    No reward from Wondrous Tails

    Time: 18:59 gmt+2
    World name: Moogle
    Character name: Nenelle Ende
    NPC name: Klhoe Aliapoh
Area and coordinates: Idyllshire X:5.7 Y:6
    Steps:
    1. Yesterday I completed my Wondrous Tails journal and got 1 line (screenshot)

    2. Today I went to get a new journal before delivering the previous one. And got the following text:
Khloe Aliapoh: Wait a minute... You already have a journal. Does it have stories in it? If it does, you should give it to me! I want to read your stories, and you want my presents right? Or maybe not? Khloe is so confused...
    3. A prompt appeared and I chose YES, and she replied:
Khloe Aliapoh: If you say so, here you go! Fill it up with lots and lots of stories and bring it back to Khloe, okay?
I got a new journal but I didn't get any reward for the previous one. (2 screenshots)

Unfortunately, the text in the prompt doesn't apper in the chat window so I can't check what the message was. When I read it I assumed it was asking me if I wanted to deliver the previous journal, but I may have misread...

Is this a bug or did I do something wrong?

I think you just missed the option to turn a journal in. When you turn a journal in, you'll be prompted to select a reward from each completion tier. You can get a new journal without turning an old one in though, which sounds like is what you accidentally did.

There's a separate option to turn in your journal for the reward. Seems like you missed it?

It sounds to me like she told you that you already had a journal and needed to turn it in first to get your rewards. You then got a prompt, which you accepted, and she then replies with "if you say so, here you go". That implies that she tried to stop you from missing out on the reward but you chose a new book anyway.

I don't think it's a bug, I think you may have just made a mistake.

This just happened to me as well (and a couple of my FC members). It's not so much a bug as it is bad coding.

Normally you're warned a couple times before you do something stupid and lose progress, there was no such warning here, and the text seems to suggests you can hand it in this way.

I only had one line complete so I'm not too worried about it, but imagine if someone had multiple lines and it was wiped out without warning.

So I made a mistake then?

But why would I want to discard a journal without getting the reward?
I don't know, it looked pretty obvious to me that the NPC was offering me to trade in my journal before getting a new one considering what the NPC was saying before getting the prompt.

Anyway I'll be more careful next time, but I felt really bummed...

With the text you quoted from in-game:

"Khloe Aliapoh: Wait a minute... You already have a journal. Does it have stories in it? If it does, you should give it to me! I want to read your stories, and you want my presents right? Or maybe not? Khloe is so confused..."

...it sounds to me like she was asking why you would want a new book without turning in your completed one. She's confused as to why you're moving on to a new book without getting rewards for your previous one. I don't know what the prompt specifically said, but I assume it was asking you to confirm that you want a new book anyway, since she follows up with

"Khloe Aliapoh: If you say so, here you go! Fill it up with lots and lots of stories and bring it back to Khloe, okay?".

Well, thank you for your contribution.

I DID read it but looks like I got it wrong. And as some other person said in this same thread, looks like I'm not the only one that made that mistake.

Maybe a warning text would be appreciated (like when you try to discard a unique item, you get a red text).

I'm pretty sure the prompt IS the warning. It just needs to be read before clicking Yes.

The initial dialogue already suggests to you that you should turn your other book in first. She specifically says "You already have a journal. Does it have stories in it? If it does, you should give it to me!"

Then, as you said, there was a prompt. If you accepted the prompt and then the follow-up dialogue is "if you say so", then it sounds to me like you WERE warned and she is basically saying "fine here's your book, I tried to warn you".

Without know exactly what to prompt states, I could be wrong....however based on the dialogue before and after it seems to me like it gives fair warning.

Yeah and as she said that I assumed she was going to give me the option to trade in my journal first.

Sure, maybe the prompt was saying that and I didn't read it carefully enough and that seems to be the case. But wouldn't it be better if the prompt looked like this?

I wouldn't have messed up if it looked like that then
