Please allow us to do other things while using Party Finder

Is there a way to set up Party Finder so we can do some other content while we wait?
For example, we could "post" our recruitment information and people can apply to it. When the party is full we get notified. Until then, we can do something else.

When using the Party Finder option there are many things we cannot do. We can't do dungeons. We can't summon our chocobo. We can't do Aquapolis or join another person's party.

Is there any way to make this more flexible?

I've spent time on PF only to cancel whatever we were planning to do. I totally agree with you, if there is flexibility within PF to do many stuff, that would be great.

What annoys me about PF is when people join and drop out of the group the Job they joined in as is flagged as the Job requirement for that particular slot when you re-list the PF. I've lost count of how many times that happened and I didn't realize it was restricting my recruitment slots. It should just automatically revert to "All" or to whatever Role it was supposed to be when someone leaves like that.

I'm not sure if this would really be a good adition. Imagine this: You make a PF for something that requires 8 people, then you go and run a dungeon. Tweo people join, they go and run seperate dungeons each etc. Your seventh person joined and immidiatly jumps into a dungeon because you have to wait for one more (and potionally some of the other guys, who are in Aqua right now) anyways. Last person joins but you're not good to go for 30 more minutes, because you're waiting on that healer now that just vanished into expert roulette... nope, nope, nope. I already consider it annoying enough to wait for people that are just going "brb quick smoke"

I understand that standing around and doing "nothing" (you can gather, craft, do Fates...) is boring, but waiting til 8 people are ready at the same time is frustrating enough at it is already

I don't know how other servers do it, but in ours, people put he "departure time" in the Party Finder explanation. For raids, they allow people to join temporary linkshell.
This way, people can join and do other things until the scheduled departure time. At the departure time, everyone gathers.

Then how is PF's limitations preventing you from doing other things? It seems you're doing it already.

I imagine in most servers, the departure time is exactly when the party fills up.

I'm sorry, it seems there is a misunderstanding.
    Here is the meaning.

We put the recruitment information in PF.
    We list a departure time.
We wait for it to fill up.
During this time the person who set the recruitment cannot do things like summon a chocobo, join a party, go to dungeons, do any Duties or instanced quests. This here is the problem.
Other people who joined the party can do anything else they want, because they didn't make the recruitment. Also, because the departure time is listed, they know when to return.
    Party fills up.
    Departure time arrives.
    Everyone gathers and leaves.

Like I mentioned, the people who join are free to do anything they want.
The person who makes the recruitment is not. This is the problem I am talking about.

That makes more sense. But then how do we communicate if you're in a dungeon? I guess some new type of temporary chat?

Actually, I guess this would be best served as something new, and not changes to PF. Some kind of "event planner."

The solution to this is a scheduling function.

This really sounds more like we could use a new tool and dont change the one we currently have - the "problem" I see with your PF-suggestion is that there is no gurantee that your group will fill up til depeature-time. But having an additional tool that allows us to set up groups hours in advance sounds like a good idea to me (a bit like what you would do with a static or friends already; at least thats what we're doing "We'll be going for Sophia EX on friday at X o'clock, come, if you can!")
