The game should have returned an error number, which tells us specifically if it's a problem with your router, your connection, or your game files.

Post the number if you can. Otherwise, some of the most common solutions are found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ersion_update/

The advice comes based off this thread, which had the same error message: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...05-10009-10020

    1. Double-check your anti-virus is off. The firewall systems may interfere with the default channels use for updating. You can make exceptions if you want, but it requires going in to the CMD or exceptions commands, which is not something everyone is comfortable with.

    2. Turn off and reset your router. A second User case had an IP issue with [10009], where the User was somehow still registered on his current IP and the game was kicking him out because it protects against IP spoofing or something.

    3. If you have an internet control and monitoring tool, like netlimiter, consider turning that off.

    4. Directly edit and reset your patch doc. It might be corrupted. go to My documents (C > Users > USERNAME> Documents) > FFXIV > Downloads > ffxivpatch > 4e9a232b > patch > delete the patch.info there.

    5. Check your installed programs and check there is nothing unusual installed in the last couple of days (or whenever ffxiv stopped working). Uninstall it.

Try those. If not, I'm afraid you're beyond my meager ability to help.

You need to enter you AV console set an exception for the entire game folder. This way, the AV will just bi-pass all files in that folder.
