    Version Check Failed

    Can't log in because I keep getting the version check failed message when I try to open the launcher. Is there a way to fix this? Tried unchecking the read only setting on the FFXIV main folder.

    Also I don't have anything like windows firewall blocking the program from launching.

    I just got this right now too. I was playing fine last night, now all of a sudden I have this...currently running a system restore point but no idea if this will do anything.. ><

    Just ran my system restore and received a error that would close the launcher, and continued to get this error..and later on, bam, right back to the version check failed message. This is so odd, but seems FFXIV is out for me until a solution is found...

    Are you guys on AT&T by any chance? I just started having this problem and was able to solve it by flushing my dns a couple times and then changing it to the google dns server.

    This is exactly what fixed mine. I noticed ealier on my ps4 i had to manualy make the DNS 8.8.8.8 before it would connect. Something is screwy with their dns servers

    I was getting this too, but all i did was reset my computer and it's working fine now. I'm also on at&t.

    I went to the trouble to call them; it seems they are having DNS server issues that are currently being worked on. It should be fixed by tomorrow.

    If you want to play tonight, change your DNS server to google, which should fix it until AT&T kicks the crap out of it and gets it to behave. I gave them the ips of both the lobby server and Excalibur just so they know what's glitching (the only IPs I have available). If people know more ips, call them and tell them! Also just so you know, I found out b/c my brother was trying to access the apple store on his phone; IT'S NOT WORKING EITHER on the wifi.

    [Edit] This issues is also affecting the Xbox store too, that particular brother tells me. So if you have xbox ones or Xbox 360s you might have to change the DNS on them too temp.

    [Edit again] If you're not tech savvy and cussing at this problem, try using this, which makes fixing it pretty intuitive: DNS Jumper. You can use it to flush the DNS and change it.

    neat thanks for calling elizara! I was wondering what was up and figured it was their DNS server...but with the advent of googles DNS i just didnt care enough to find out lol!!

    Note that this could happen with PS4 too (did for me in another game) and you can change it as well for ps4!
