3rd attempt despite my first time the tanks didnt want to wait for explanations and eventually kept pulling the boss, but besides that one time, the second time saw most of the fight, third time beat it. I like the difficulty though i can tell you id hate to heal itNo dont change it. A lot of ppl have been asking for that middle ground between easy content and difficult content (savage). This for me is there. Im just an average player, dont do savage, normally play a healer and was able to beat it on my 4th try (ilevel 236) all in different groups in DF.
It hasnt been 1 week yet since release... Give it time, gear up some more. If community sees that after 3-4 weeks a lot of ppl are having difficulty then maybe ask for it.
For me it is fine as it is.
A12 is actually easier than A11 IMO. I've been doing it with a bunch of first timers and most of them can one shot it.
What far from obvious mechanics?I spent hours yesterday clearing A12. It wasn't fun and hopefully will get better when people learn the fight. I quickly watched a vid after the first or second try given the mechanics were far from obvious and the people there didn't explain the fight at all. That wasn't the case with A9, A10 and A11. Those fights went pretty well and people did explain mechanics to new people. I have 3 alts that will need clears and I'll try for clears with my alt Tiffa later today.
I'm not for nerfing it but it's definitely a fight that will potentially turn off a lot of casuals in my view.
Don't stack if you have aggravated assault? DPS into the portals? Drop puddles away from the group?
A12 is extremely light on mechanics, it just vomits damage. It's very similar to Nidhogg and Bahamut in that regard, as it should be.
Honestly if this gets nerfed in any way I'm gping to be extremely dissapounted. I'm not a savage player. I'm what you referred to earlier in the thread as a "casual" and I would appreciate it if you didn't assume I want face roll content.
I love this game to death but honestly, it's boring. And that's because 90% of this game is lacking in challenge. I don't want to get a victory without even trying. I don't want the FINALE to be easy. I want it to be an epic battle that makes me feel like I'm actually fighting a powerful foe. I want the excitement that comes when you manage to pull it off right, and the sense of satisfaction you get when you manage to clear it.
Wanting it to be face roll so you can enjoy the story? It's a freaking game. If you don't want to "play" it, watch it on youtube. But God people, stop asking for things to be nerfed or made easier.. you're ruining this game. -.-
Oh well we aren't all wonders of the game like you who can figure out mechanics in a flip of the wrist. And no the mechanics weren't very obvious like having a single dps enter each of the portals or even knowing you had to enter them, or how to avoid the lasers or what the tethers meant. Oddly enough there were tons of people there having problems with the mechanics and that was exhibited by the number of wipes and abandons.
The fight is actually pretty epic once one knows what to do and with a group that knows how to as well.

It's only the first week. People will eventually learn the mechanics. I did the fight three times, all of them on SCH and when the only thing vomiting out damage was Alexander and not the BLM who refused to move and accept that mechanics were happening, the fight was fine.
I enjoy a little bit of needing to pop Sprint and I enjoy the fact that I need to watch what spells I use to balance MP and aoe healing. People having problem with mechanics is nothing new but for the first week, it will be. Give it another week and people will have more gear and the issue will once again -and as always- be a dps check rather than a healing check.
That being said, I'm surprised no one mentioned Sephirot in terms of raw healing needed. This fight reminds me of Sephirot and Nidhogg where they just love to output massive damage just to make it a healer intensive fight.
Which, btw, is something we don't normally get.
For what it's worth. I highly recommend jumping into Savage this go around. With it being scaled down closer to a midcore level than Gordias or Midas, you might just find it much more appealing. Anywho, I agree. Frankly, I'd like to see all bits of content see a spike in difficulty. Nothing ridiculous, of course. But it irks me a little our two new dungeons, for instance, are a paltry ilvl 210. Within the month, we'll be nearly 50 levels ahead of them. Making both ilvl 230 would have made it a far more comfortable challenge for 3.4's duration. Alexander Normal sort of suffers in the same way.Honestly if this gets nerfed in any way I'm gping to be extremely dissapounted. I'm not a savage player. I'm what you referred to earlier in the thread as a "casual" and I would appreciate it if you didn't assume I want face roll content.

Dont worry guys. If the difficulty of Creator is threatened, I'll just make a "Don't Nerf Alexander: Creator! Petition/Appreciation" Thread.
It helped protect Weeping City. Thank goodness.
I healed it on release day with a DF Group where everyone was new. I didn't notice anything too hard about the healing. It took us 3 pulls to kill him. I thought A11 was harder.
It's the final fight and not everyone has new gear even though you can easily beat it with a ilvl 235 group. Give it time before you ask for nerfs
