What far from obvious mechanics?I spent hours yesterday clearing A12. It wasn't fun and hopefully will get better when people learn the fight. I quickly watched a vid after the first or second try given the mechanics were far from obvious and the people there didn't explain the fight at all. That wasn't the case with A9, A10 and A11. Those fights went pretty well and people did explain mechanics to new people. I have 3 alts that will need clears and I'll try for clears with my alt Tiffa later today.
I'm not for nerfing it but it's definitely a fight that will potentially turn off a lot of casuals in my view.
Don't stack if you have aggravated assault? DPS into the portals? Drop puddles away from the group?
A12 is extremely light on mechanics, it just vomits damage. It's very similar to Nidhogg and Bahamut in that regard, as it should be.

Oh well we aren't all wonders of the game like you who can figure out mechanics in a flip of the wrist. And no the mechanics weren't very obvious like having a single dps enter each of the portals or even knowing you had to enter them, or how to avoid the lasers or what the tethers meant. Oddly enough there were tons of people there having problems with the mechanics and that was exhibited by the number of wipes and abandons.
The fight is actually pretty epic once one knows what to do and with a group that knows how to as well.

We died twice to aggravated assault before we figured it out, when those portals appeared the entire party ran into them the first time because it's pretty obvious when the adds he spawns run into them that you're supposed to follow. From that we figured out that it was one dps per portal. The tethers and the lasers were figured out as soon as we'd seen them once, just back off the boss and drop them around the side.Oh well we aren't all wonders of the game like you who can figure out mechanics in a flip of the wrist. Why do you expect to be able to go into a fight blind and clear it in one shot? It took us a few pulls and that's perfectly fine. You need to communicate with your party, not just abandon and start from scratch as soon as you can't faceroll it.

I didn't go into the fight expecting an easy clear. I also didn't expect to spend all afternoon and running with 8 or more failed groups before getting a clear. My point was the fight is challenging, it does have mechanics people need to know to clear it, it does have a nice dps check and my sympathy for healers who really have to work at keeping everyone up including themselves. One of the fights actually hit enrage because the dps was too low and people died which didn't help. Wiping City (so named) is also easy once one knows the mechanics but it still takes a group knowing how to perform to clear it. This week there were tons of complaints about getting a clear there as well given all the new players who came back to the game not knowing what to do.
The groups didn't abandon without multiple attempts I might add. I'll have another go at it with my alt to get her cleared. I'll do a clear for another alt tomorrow. I'll have a good sense, and perhaps I was unlucky yesterday, of how the clears go after running it more. I'm not opposed to a challenge. I love A8 and I suspect I'll love this fight when I run it each week for a gear.
