Hmm, it seems the Tome sword should be used over Alex sword.

You'll rarely want to use Slaying Pieces on tanks, you're giving up 1.5k HP that could be used to save healer DPS, or allow you to eat a buster in DPS stance, in exchange for a hypothetical 0.33% DPS increase, assuming 1200+ attack power in full i270.
Quick question for someone that doesn't do savage, but will try out extreme primals what would be a decent set to aim for? I'm having a hard time avoiding parry.
I wouldn't even have considered the strength ring except for the fact that we already have plenty of HP for A12S at I250.
I get your point and may use the fending anyway, I just feel like it's not needed in this raid tier.

This is kinda me as well. I dont do savage content, although I may get brave one day and give it a try so Im trying to gear up with that in mind. Ive seen conflicting info and perspectives of which accessory pieces are best to focus on (fending vs slaying) and the end result is just me left being confused. I had been considering the Slaying bracer and rings melded with Vit over the fending pieces due to them having the Parry cooties. Just not sure that's the best way to go...
If you're not doing Savage just grab all the Shire stuff. Yeah, it has Parry, but you're also losing HP by trying to maximize near meaningless (especially for you) secondary stats. You only need to care about this stuff if you plan on raiding. Plus you'll want all the Shire stuff so you can upgrade it in 3.5 or w/e where it will be untouchable outside of raid gear. This is kinda me as well. All the more reason for nonraiders to still stick to Vit no matter how bad that piece is. Shire body/pants will be your main concern because they net the most stats and the counterparts are only acquired from A11S and A12S. Then save up for 7th week weapon purchase.
Unless if you are raiding, most of the gearing part is rather fixed because they follow the same patterns of prioritization. Vice versa, if you are raiding, you need to get into the BiS club and tune your purchases for that. Scripture earrings, bracelets and head piece and ofc the ring (if you aint into slaying) are all BiS because the counterparts aren't good enough (for ring you cant stack the same ring together, hence why you can consider it BiS) for what's worth. Tanks can still get Shire body if they really want it but i250 crafted comes rather close that it feels wasted (at least I do feel that way) unless if you clear A11S early for that twine upgrade.

I think this would be the best option. Even if by any chance the new 24 man raid drops something that's better than the upgraded shire gears you can simply replace them later when they drop (in 3-4ish months?). If you don't raid then picking the slaying pieces would be fine too, but if you want to step into savage for the first time, I recommend getting the fending pieces too, just to have as much hp as you can while learning the fights and optimizing your skill rotations. After you're comfortable you can start min/maxing and dropping fending pieces for slaying where possible. If you're not doing Savage just grab all the Shire stuff. Appreciate the replies folks! Gives me some direction and a plan (sorry for the minor derail too!)
