FFXI is old. That was 2003, this is 2011. FFXI's interface shortcomings do not have to be FFXIV's just because it shares the FF lineage. Thankfully most of this is moot in 2.0 but just because something is an FF MMO doesn't mean it has to keep carrying over all the less than efficient design choices.

FF1 is old, people didnt complain that the PSP version has the same ineficiant interface, same with FF3 and FF4, FF games have used menu based interfaces all its life even FFXIII uses it and it wasnt trolled like this one has been just because its slow, which can be fixed by bringing it to the client rather than the server.

I looked into by Square ball, and saw a lot of ongoing slow menu navigation during the run up to 2.0.
