I'm kinda disappointed that I didn't just summon all six in that scene just to show that I'm the better WoL.

That sort of thing just makes the story incredibly stale and boring. It just baffles me that so many people seemingly want the Warrior of Light to be better than everybody they come across. It's little wonder there's so little feeling of a threat these days and characters are only at risk of being harmed if it's to make people feel sad like with Ysayle and Haurchefant.

Beatrix is one of the most memorable characters in FFIX because she utterly thrashes the main character's party not once, not twice but three times. I daresay we need more situations like that in FFXIV. I can't be the only one who wants to see the Scions, Warrior of Light and Hydaelyn humbled every now and then, surely? It shouldn't be a temporary thing either - Beatrix was never defeated by the party in FFIX (though she did have a change of heart and align herself with them during the story, therefore negating the need to defeat her utterly).

Well we sort of gotten that from part 1 of our battle against the WODs when Dark Derplander used a super Homalgang to bind the entire party. Having the the protagonist lose against the enemy is a delicate balance and it done wrong, it either makes your heroes look incompetent or it'll be making the enemy look cool for the sake of kicking the hero's butt.

We were humbled pretty decisively at the end of 2.55. All the WoL has to do is continue to hang out with Alphinaud and some form of humbling will come along again. The dude is a magnet for betrayal and plans gone awry.
