And no, you can't have tenants in your apartment, sadly. It's something a lot of people would like (my husband and I would like to share permissions, since he prefers my designs better than his, heh), but it's currently only available for houses.
(Also I'm soaking up this info because I just hit 50 as well)
Player

UnaLihzeh - Hit me up in game if you want I am enjoying this game and the more involved to learn together the better. The people here have been nothing but helpful i am looking forward to getting back online and playing some more
Also check out the other recent threads about level 50 content for more tips:
Just hit 50, what now?
What can I get at endgame without Heavensward?
(ack, wrote up a lengthy answer and then when switching browser tabs accidentally closed it instead and lost the whole thing. Don't feel like writing the whole thing over again, so just settled for pointing out threads with some of the same info.)
Specifically, getting all of them for your Paladin would require getting CNJ/WHM to level 34, and MRD to 26.I meant that you should level your Conjurer (White Mage after 30) and Marauder (Warrior after 30) higher to get all the important cross-class abilities from them to equip on your Paladin. Similarly, your Bard friend should level Pugilist (Monk after 30) and Lancer (Dragoon after 30) higher to get at least Invigorate and Blood for Blood for his Bard.
Most of the conjurer skills aren't really all that useful for a tank, but having Stoneskin yourself is nice rather than having to rely on your healer to cast it on you. The skills you get from Marauder tend to be more useful. (Really, I think Conjurer was only tied to Paladin for stylistic reasons and the idea of Paladin being a holy knight. Functionally, in terms of what skills you'll want as a tank, it's not a very good fit. Getting skills from the other tank class is generally more useful.)
For your Bard friend, it would mean getting LNC/DRG to level 34 and PGL/MNK all the way to 42. (Yeah, the highest level cross-class skill in the game, and from a class where all other cross-class skills are gained by level 12. It's a long way to go just for Mantra. Some decide too far to be worth it, but if he wants access to everything, that's part of everything. And it is a nice skill to have.)
Housing provides:
- a place to decorate however you'd like
- access to a stable where you can train your chocobo and/or change the colors of his feathers
- a cheap teleport destination near one of the main cities
- Houses allow for gardening. (Apartments give partial access to gardening using potted plants, but that doesn't allow crossbreeding the plants, so not all items are available.)
And houses can be shared, but apartments cannot.

The L50 raids are great if you are into the story![]()
You could do the Relic quest for a cool weapon and a job specific title.
You could do sidestory quests. Hildebrand can be a lot of fun if you enjoy silly storylines. I haven't tried the Delivery Moogle ones yet, but they apparently give a bunch of background stories.
You could take up crafting and gathering.
The optional raids were already discussed.
Basically, you're at a point where there is so many options available that what to do next is really just a question of what you're interested in.
