Please give materia a repair-like interface

One thing is certain, materia is costly. So too are the items in which we wish to place them.

The point of an MMO is to trust in your fellow player and to rely on their skills to aid you. But there are limits in how much we should have to trust in strangers. It may seem overly cautious, but if someone makes off with our expensive items we have no one to blame but ourselves.

This could potentially be a headache for GMs as there's no way to prove wrong doing outside of hearsay when the items were given via legitimate trade.

It's because of this that a materia interface needs to be a high priority. Something similar to repair where we put in the equipment, materia, catalyst and -- if desired -- a reward. This would remove any apprehension about finding strangers to handle melding.

I would like to say Sephrick is on the money! This is also been an issue in my mind about the materia system. I mostly play solo (one of the goals of ff14) because I am in my mid-twenties and have to work and maintain a social life, so I don't have close connections to a linkshell or groups of other players. I would like to be able to take advantage of the materia system but I don't have the resources that players that gets to spend a lot of time in-game do. I think that Sephrick's solution would be ideal, as I can see this becoming a problem for GM's esp when the population of the game swells and there are too many fires for them to put out and because I don't have time to build trusting in game relationships just in the hopes that another player won't just walk off with hard earned gear and materia.
