    [Spoiler] 'The Beast that Mourned'

    Major spoilers for various quests in this post;

Just a small question; why is it that Ga Bu summoned Titan in the room instead of primal-ised variations of his parents? I thought the crystals, when activated, created your heart's desire, like with how Bahamut was summoned by his sister/partner (I can't mind her name) when she was in distress?

Surely he would have summoned them? I mean, even Gilgamesh managed to summon Enkidu when he was longing for his best friend.

I just thought it was strange.

I know the story will never be perfect but.... That's a massive plot-hole, especially when three or more quests, two of which are MS quests involve such a thing...

Yeah, I was expecting to see him summon his parents but I guess they needed some player traffic on Titan HM.

He wouldn't have summoned his parents, their souls were likely dissapated in the Lifestream after their death, there are many example of primals not representing the souls of the original being it is representing(shiva the primal was not Shiva the person, Bahamut the primal was not Bahamut the Dragon, Even King Thordan the primal was not the real King Thordan, but a being conceived by Thordan the 7th) in fact, that might be how every primal functions.

He wanted his parents to be alive, true. But their souls are not entities like primals are, nor are they noteworthy people known by many. But Ga Bu knew about Titan, and he was an entitiy that could come back to answer his prayers. His distress ended up being the catalyst for Titan's awakening. As it was however, Titan was still a child's god, as such he was manifested through anguish and confusion of Ga Bu losing his parents.

I'm not saying the primals are the people themselves, they're forms of whoever you want to summon. Shiva, Bahamut, they're shells. His parents would have been summoned just as easily, just like Enkidu, who was formly just a bird. :| Shiva herself was just an elf... until uh.. vore happened.

Hell, with enough crystals, I could become a primal following Shiva's law.

EDIT: People kept referring to his chicken, I did the quests I know it's a bloody chicken. I was referring to the primal he summoned.

I think it's some sort of Tsanahale, took me ages to find their name, FFXIV has very poor info' websites. >_>

Considering Ga Bu's been calling Titan all kinds of "Father" during that part of MSQ, and he's completely lost to desperation in that very moment, he'd probably subconsciously plead Titan for help, I figured? As much as he wants to stop that summoning to save his parents, that whole situation derailed completely and he's just a kid.

So why not plead that deity you've been taught is good and great and benevolent to Kobolds like you to help you squish these people (no matter if they're Kobolds) that hurt your parents and when he's done ask for your parents back? Titan does call Kobolds his children, after all, and he's always been summoned to punish people that hurt his children - in the previous incarnation/s we've seen in the story it was always against them Overdwellers because they're nasty, but this case is just... really really twisted, so it does make sense that a child would plead his deity to help him subconsciously.

(I think I wouldn't have lived through him summoning his actual parents as primals, though, I was already hysterically sobbing into discord when we all noticed what exactly Titan was saying in that Titan HM)

I mean it probably just is a plot hole but... I like this explanation, personally.

Not just per Shiva... But the Knights of the Round as well...

But as for why Titan got summoned instead of his parents? Simple, Primals are bullshit.

Had he said "Father, help me" or "Titan, please...", you know something, anything during that scene I'd have come to the conclusion he was thinking about the Crag, but it just seemed like his entire mind and being were on his parents, he didn't even care that Titan had been summoned and was wrecking everything. >_<

Maybe it was just a poor translation, maybe in Japanese they have him say Titan? I listen in Japanese but with english subs, but I didn't pay too much attention to what was being said, I do notice though, that sometimes, they don't translate properly. An NPC can be saying someone's name clearly but the dialogue window doesn't bring that up.
