The thing with the Elementals is the Twelveswood is their home and so their rules. Its not like anyone is forced to live there. I'm not saying that makes it much relief for refugees but that is the risk you take choosing to live in the Twelveswood. The fact that the Ala Mhigans don't understand that is quite probably why the elementals have a habit of being very selective on who lives there. If your a Refugee and you choose to take refugee in the Twelveswood your taking that risk. Frankly the fact the Elementals tolerate anyone living in the Twelveswood at this point is a concession on their part.

The thing is the Ala Mhigan refugees don't have much of a choice... they don't have a home anymore. They're desperate for anywhere that will take them, and to be arbitrarily told no and given no explanation as to why or how they can become worthy is kicking them while they're down. Not that the Elementals care, since tolerating mortals being there at all is a concession on their part.

But, uhh... you kind of made my point for me. To sum it up man is not the master of his own fate in the Twelveswood, and thus it is not really a nice place to live despite all the greenery.

Well, enough digression. I stand by my original deduction on the Griffin's identity, which basically boils down to "Probably Ilberd, plausibly Gaius but unlikely, otherwise someone new."

Well yeah, I guess I do. I guess I was nit-picking cause you said arbitrary whims.

Someone in my FC asked me if I would like to live in Eorzea and I gave a firm no. Even if you hung around the 'safest' areas, ie. the cities, there really isn't anywhere where your not going to be dealing with one major issue or another. Elementals, Pirate, Religious Zealots or an Oligarchy. I think Revenant's Toll would be the most likely place simply because it's well defended and relatively free as long as you pull your weight. There is also Idylshire but considering the spire that town is built on my basic grasp of physics would make me feel very unsafe living there.

I'm surprised nobody here looks to be surprised about Eline Roaille being mentioned in the storyline. (really briefly mention by Thancred via linkshell to Alphinaud)
I don't remember exactly why she has mentioned, as it's just in 1/2 sentences. I think she has been dealing with crystals.
Yep, those same crystals used by the Griffin to trade with Amalj'aas.

Back in 2.X, Eline was revealed to be a Garlemald ally.
And now, it seems she is helping the Griffin, right ?
The guy who wants to take Ala Mhigo back from Garlemald ?

Why would she do that ?
If I remember well, Illberd was the one capturing her in 2.X.
Was he also the one to release her, asking her to be loyal to him ? =)
I can't see any other reason for her to fight against Garlemald.

Or maybe I didn't understand a single thing.

Eliane is probably still safely locked up. Her being free seems like the kind of thing Raubhan or Nanamo would mention, and Lolorito had no reason to let her go free. It's just the remnants of her spy ring that are smuggling crystals, probably just to make money.

As much as I would both love and hate to see Gaius come back the idea of The Griffin being him seems like a bit of a stretch. Especially given the last scene with presumably the real one given the lack of voice acting to give it away.

One of the last thing Gaius did before being pretty much vaporized at The Praetorium was actively cursing the Ascians for playing him like a fiddle and ruining his hopes and plans for the Ultima weapon by revealing well, Ultima.

Do you really think Gaius would be stupid enough to accept the help of Ascians again?

If it were Gaius, did he have dealings with our favourite white-robed Ascian before, or was it just Lahabrea? How much of the world knows about what's been happening in Ishgard or with the WoD behind the scenes to have an understanding of the internal politics and struggles of the Ascians as we have (from a player POV)? Is there someone we've forgotten? Roll on 3.5...!

Did anyone snag some photos, or video of the two Griffins conversing? I'd like to see them again.

Most little Ala Mhigo NPCs have new dialouge, some interesting tidbits there.

I'm betting all of my gil that it's Illberd. He up and runs after we encounter him in 3.0. He's ambitious and vengeful as all hell. He was charismatic enough to sway a ton of the Crystal Braves to his side during the mutiny. And he wants Ala Mhigo back.

I just can't see Gaius coming back for this, especially since the Griffin's plan involved allowing the Amal'jja to summon Ifrit - something that Gaius would absolutely never do unless for some reason he stopped thinking of the primals as abhorrent.
