I would much prefer they remain, at least for DoH, as a means to buy materials and/or shards/crystals.
For the other classes, I don't much care.

I'm in this frame of though, used for shards/crystals, or even specialty types, kind of like how in XI you could use guild points on crystals to sign gear and food.
Convert Guild Marks into Crysta...earn free months playtime?
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
I'm sure this has been mentioned in the thread already, but here goes.
Easiest solution: Marks go away, no compensation.
Gil solution: Convert marks of all types to gil. Not very rewarding, but it's something. An NPC may need to facilitate this.
Consummable solution: An NPC who accepts guild marks appears. Marks can be traded in for consumables, dyes, catalysts, shards, and/or crystals. Consumables such as restorative and enhancement potions, dark matter, and such. This route avoids the company seal merge. Marks may be converted all to one type to easier facilitate this NPC. This suggestion was in place so that rather than adjusting the menus of each guild desk to accept guild-specific marks, to consolidate all of these adjustments with one NPC that can accept any mark (even if that means he/she has 17 menu choices to reflect each class.
Company Seal Merge: An NPC can exchange marks for company seals. This would be for players who have not yet joined a company, so they are not be penalized by losing all their marks (i.e. new players, returning players, on-the-fence players). A company seal cap should still be implemented to prevent an overabundance of seals. Especially in the case of a 1:1 ratio. Otherwise, if the cap is removed with a 1:1 ratio, with this method announced in advance, players would have the most efficient way of gaining company seals. Company seal generating activities and rewards as well as existing seals would/should be adjusted to reflect this if such comes to pass.
