Actually, I find the Mogstation to expensive for what it is and, instead of complaining about it, I take my own advice and just don't buy it. Still have full functionality of the game, thank you. I enjoy all the content just as much. I also refuse to support SE through the mogstation when I have no guarantee that the money goes back into FFXIV, as you pointed out. I am just pointing out that the items are not "overpriced" relative to the demand.

I would not disagree with this assessment. That is all of the games industry though, not just this particular game. I also don't disagree with those of you who choose not to support the cash shop for objective reasons. I'm just not condemning people for buying items to make their digital barbie doll pretty.

I should also disclose that I'm buying the dress set whether I wanted to or not. I owe someone almost the exact amount that it costs. <_>

Also, the set bonus is somewhat useless after level 10 or so, since you need to wear actually gear instead of it.

The xp bonus on these items is the same as the ring you get from the hall of novice. I don't see that particular one being pay to win. However, the notion of being able to pay to skip the leveling process or a majority of the main scenario quest is seriously pay to win. I agree with your other point though. We weren't ever intended to get these items. It makes pretty good sense that we have to pay a premium for it. Just like we had to pay a premium for the Lightning Strikes items that weren't ever going to be added to the cash shop.

See, I disagree. Pay to win implies giving someone a distinct advantage over those who opt not to. If someone were to purchase a jump potion, they aren't going to be suddenly capable of clearing Savage. They simply get to skip ahead of the arduous 2.x to Heavensward grind. For some people, the story is irrelevant. They'll skip it all anyway. A jump potion isn't going to change that.

Pay to win is like paying 45 dollars for an entire set of Scripture tome gear. I think people aren't getting what "Pay to win" is.

Paying for a dress that gives you a 30% xp increase to lvl 30 (that you can do in a day anyways) is not pay to win

We'll cross the leveling potion bridge if they decide to go there. Here's hoping they don't. That said, a high priced dress and level jump items are not equivalent and no amount of hyperbole will make them equivalent.
