Well see no one is forcing you to take the shortcuts, you are more then welcome to take the long way round, the shortcuts are optional.

the VA I really don't mind in this game. But what bothers you on about it? I know some people complained how the text in FFT was but that is howth doth thy talked in the days of old.
Porting from one point of the world and back and back and back in less than a minute is a bad thing. Sure I could fly through every zone, but why bother when I can just port there and I have ten million quest objectives sending me back and forth across the world.

Design quests that require less world travel, fewer filler quest stops (talk to person A at A and B at B back to A at A then to C at C). More local quests. Add incentive rewards to longer quests that require more travel.

And when there IS long distance travel involved... THEN use something like a "portal" or "Aetheryte" as a mid way gap closer.

You can pretty much take a portal in WoW to be within about 5-8 minutes of any location.

XIV puts you within about 2 minutes of every location in the game. I mean theres teleports in the cities to take you to fifteen other locations in the city for gods sake.

Ok I'm not talking 30 minute boat waits.

You can literally traverse the entire continent in WoW in fifteen minutes through flying. Theres really nothing that bad about that. Very rarely is it going to make you do that either.

Our biggest zone is Sea of Clouds and about %75 of it is just empty space.

I don't even see how anyone can argue that this isn't bad design.

As for the VA's as I stated, its that they have absolutely no spacial atmosphere to them. They literally sound just like someone talking into a telephone or something and I'm listening to it on my headset.

The voices have no effects. No reverb (Why does Ser Aymeric sound like hes in a sound proof room when hes sitting in his big stone hall?)
