Thats how i am also . But i really do like everyones LS sites. My LS i like to display a lot of key items on main page so theres less looking for pages. unless its LS fourm pages and just member itemsI like www.sanctusrefero.com but I am biased; I designed the page and wrote a large portion of the widgets and mods we use on it.Working on getting live character data mod up and running as I write this. Fun stuff that!
To be unbiased, I like the sites that have clean, simple colors and basic layouts. Easy on the eyes, easy to find info. I also like the various server status displays that people have. I haven't added one to SR's website yet, but I need to.

Well, I don't personally use a service to build the site for the linkshell I am in. We have a basic hosting service, and we use SMF with TinyPortal. It is (mostly) a matter of simply installing the files yourself, but it does require some basic knowledge of the behind-the-scenes stuff. No in-depth coding however, and most of the REALLY cool stuff has to be coded a little bit at least.
A lot of people use Enjin, and that seems to work very well for a reasonable cost. I don't know what sort of widgets and perks the have, but I suspect they will have the basics - like a leve reset timer, shout box, forums, etc. I don't know if Enjin can do live character stats or anything like that. But if all you are looking for is a basic web front with some of the more common stuff, they are probably the place to go.
EDIT: I am curious... Does anyone else use SMF or SMF/TP or SMF/some other portal?

Enjin depending on your build you get 50 modulas ( basic service) unlimited ( 30$ a month) the mods very like if you look at my website i have a box with links to lodestone , our photos , our voice server status ( enjin has mods for mumble, vent, skype, ext.) i can add a updated member list witch shows everyones progressions/stats but i dont use it, there is a htlm mod to add your own html , chat , video , shout , server status , different ffxiv serch widgets. it has a lot to offer i made a website 1st useing .ning.com but it was limited . all i can say is check it out theres a free version if you wanna play with all the optionsWell, I don't personally use a service to build the site for the linkshell I am in. That's cool. It sounds like they have a lot of the mods that we have had to code manually. Granted, I like to code as a hobby, so it works out best, and we can optimize specifically for our linkshell and for SMF/TP, which means we can do a few nifty little back end tricks.
I'm curious, does Enjin have support anywhere for a single logged in user to manage multiple characters? That's the pipe dream over on our site, and the ultimate goal with our FFXIV MOD for SMF.

TONKA TRUCK LEGO BLOCKS.
my enjin site i have admin's. that have full assecss to changeing things on the site . Also me being the creator i can ban , block IP's , If someone has more then one chr it shows them seprate but you can manage them if your the creator or admin i do believe. think you can manage them. i dont have multi-chrs so i cant really awnser that question . But i know 2 people in my LS have more then one chr and there all on the website.
Say, does anyone out there who does their own coding for their site use mumble/murmur to display a mumble widget? That's another thing I want really bad. I like the Ventrillo and Teamspeak widgets I've seen on the sites in this thread, but they're all enijn, etc., and I doubt they would let me take a peak at their code XD

We have a free Mumble server through UKGame. It seems you have to know your JSON info or xml url to display the channels in a website module, and unfortunately UKGame told me that they don't support that info (so I'm screwed, apparently). I'm sure paid Mumble servers probably provide that info, though.Say, does anyone out there who does their own coding for their site use mumble/murmur to display a mumble widget?
