Also anyone know about the fate of your squad when switching GCs? Do they get reset to 0, or does it stay with the GC like PvP ranks, or does it carry with you? (Edit: Nvm, someone said it carries with you)

Apparently they can enter as many times as they like, no purchase necessary.

I changed after the first day and everything stayed intact.

What happens to the joke recruits? Do they lose their event gear?

They've stayed the same for mine so far.
