Spellblade is the skill name (or actually a whole category of skills, since it can be used with a wide variety of spells). The associated job is Mystic Knight. (In Bravely Default, the same job is called Spell Fencer.) Basically, instead of casting offensive magic directly at the enemy, you cast it on your weapon and then attack with it.

I think it could be a pretty cool job to add if done well. (But then so would red mage.)

This is really interesting but for the class to work as described in the wiki elemental resistance should acquire a lot more importance ingame

Well, in most FF games, Black Mage is highly focused on elemental attacks as well. They changed how that works in this game, so could change how Mystic Knight's spells work as well.

I think so long as it involves casting magic on your weapon and then getting a corresponding magical effect when you attack with that weapon, then it fits the job's basic paradigm. Any other details can be adjusted around to suit the mechanics and balance concerns of this particular game.
