Spellblade was also a class in Final Fantasy Tactics A2. It was a Veira job that had you enchant your sword to do damage that also caused a debuff on the foe. The attack wasn't elemental in the game like the Elementalist was (had magic that was elemental and caused a debuff on the foe). Veira could only be Elementalists, too.

For those who finished the new main quest what do you think about Alisaie aether sword? Which ff class fit her better?
Just as i saw it i thought red mage but usually red mage use phisical swords and not magical construct. Maybe some sort of mystic knight?

Funny because the first thing that came to mind when I saw that was "I hope this is not what the devs are planning for Red Mage."

What she pulled out doesn't look right to me, and feels awfully cheesy. There's no shame in simply ensorcelling one's sword with magic.

Well she didn't anything too crazy and awesome on my eyes. She still used her SCH book after all. It's not first time we see an aether blade. It's not a new concept in game. This might not be a teaser for a next class at all. Well the first Fan Festival is in 2 weeks. So we will learn at least for 1 new class there. If he does it like on the previous Festivals then we is going to reveal 1 new class at each Festival. The name of the new expansion and a teaser trailer on the first.

Those are all just alternate lables or upgraded versions of the same jobs we have. Devout and Magus are the leveled up versions of White Mage and Black Mage in FFIII, for example.

Or maybe she's just a PLD without a shield? Ever consider that? She does use the PLD animations when she fights. The sword just simply spawned from a book, and it happens to glow. Nothing more. Even her casting animations are the same as when a PLD casts Clemency.
Sorry to be a party pooper, but yeah. She's definitely a shield less PLD.
