if you look under the website for the 3.4 trailer it shows that the squardons is where you get the promotion but not sure how much of it you have to do

From what I've seen elsewhere, obtained by dubious means, you need have your squadron reach level 40 & be successful in the mission(s) unlocked at that level. I'd expect to see some people reaching level 40 next week but it all depends on how the experience awarded compares with the experience needed to level up.

I believe you need your squadron to be level 40. Either you do successful missions for that level, or a special mission will come up that promotes you to First Lieutenant on completion.
(I heard my FC talking about it. :'3 I'm not sure if this is true or not, but that's what it seems like...)

My highest level on a few of my recruits is 34. So hopefully within the next few days I'll hit level 40. I'll post a confirmation at that point if no one else beats me to it~

Indeed, that was the reference I used. However, as it was gained using 'dubious' methods, I was cautious to say it was definite.

I wouldn't say confirmed until there are screenshots or videos posted of people getting promoted. The "confirmation" isn't perfectly reliable due to it's sometimes fragmented nature.
