Can't get my PS3 controller to work with FF14

I'm trying to get my PS3 controller to work with FF14. I the controller SHOULD work since I played Hyper Dimensional Neptunia (HDN) 1-3 with it. I keep the controller plugged in, and I am using Windows 7.

So, I took the same steps that I used to play HDN -- I plug in the controller, changed the input device in FF14's setting to PS3. Nothing works. I go to Devices and Printers in Control Panel. Windows sees and detects the PS3 controller. I got to properties. I move the stick around and press buttons. Nothing happens. So this is not specific to FF14, which odd since I've played other games with it. I've tried three different USB ports, and two PS3 controllers. I also tried playing HDN 1. Again, the controller is detected, but no input is registered, or seems to be.

edit: I restarted my computer and tried a different cable. I also made sure that the controller was unplugged during the boot process this time (originally I had it plugged in before powering on), only plugging it in after everything had started up. Same result.

edit2: I also tried calibrating. Again, the game isn't getting any input at all.
