I laughed a little during Ameryc's little dinner because I was reminded of the luncheon we had with Nanamo, and my character seemed to as well - declining the wine, looking a little apprehensive while the tea was being poured...

Oh man. It's quite telling that the manifestation of Ga Bu's despair and sorrow immediately tried to kill him. I really hope he has a presence in future patches, just so I can hug him and tell him it'll be okay. The rematch against Titan was just heartbreaking too. Well done Square.

Might just been me but I don't remember off the top of my head any references to the Source and shards in previous patches, so not too sure if I was expected to know it all.

It's official - WoD is 3.X Moenbryda. Jumped in, was cool, had a vague impact on the story, jumped right back out again before the expansion. They could have made such a good long term foe too, what with them trying to destroy our world to save theirs. I'm not too thrilled with how their story ended either. "I needed a gift of light before I could go suck the excess light out of their world, but now everything will be okay!" ... well that came out of nowhere.

The end battle was pure awesome though. The only gripe I had with it was that it really needed was the Echo message you get when you wipe a duty to pop up every time they died. Wait wait, don't you have to put up a good fight for the Echo to kick in? 'Cause that never happened :P

EDIT: Nidhogg's eyes, like we all knew. I don't think it means the return of Lahabrea though.

On a side note...

What with our reputation growing even now and everyone saying how they can always rely on us to go above and beyond and get the job done... I can't be the only one waiting for a WoL primal.

Okay, so the idea behind the whole PvP system in this game always bothered me, because it was stupid and not at all sensible for the three nations to be doing such an idiotic thing... but, it doesn't even serve a purpose! So far, a Flame soldier along with myself and Y'mitra have snuck in there, and now a damned Garlean too! For something so "heavily defended it seems awfully easy to get in there, not to mention the fail that is letting random adventurers run around on precious artifacts...

Anyway, Omega Weapon! I'm super looking forward to that.

Saw them eyes coming back from the moment they were thrown off that bridge; this likely means our good old friend Lahabrea will return also, maybe he can use that moron Griffin as his vessel? Speaking of him - his rant, he mentions that the new viceroy isn't half as fair as Gaius - I know there was mentions from a lot of subjugated places that his rule wasn't really "so bad" and this makes me wonder about it... but most of all it makes me want to meet this new viceroy; it could be that Gaius was a real nasty piece of work as your ruler and this guy is ten fold that even. Anyway, Ala Mhigo expansion hype!

Minfillia is gone, I honestly never cared for her due to her Princess Peachiness... finally she has done something useful! Is all I will say. I'd like more info on these other stars now that it's become a common topic.

Warring Triad.

Being fascinated (obsessed) with Allagan architecture, technology and lore... I couldn't help but wonder if the architecture on the sarcophagus-like containment shell Sophia was in is Allagan in design (much like if Sephirot's arm bondage is, too) along with the platform we fight her on, the circling rings around the sky section and all the cubes (which I believe to be the thrall containment chambers). Or were they plucked from Meracydia, or at the least based on Meracydian architecture. We see that Phleg, Scylla and Glasya are wearing Meracydian armour so maybe they stole much more than we thought from their conquest.

Also, the thrall thinking I was Allagan had me blushing... such a delightful compliment! >.<

Anyway, afterwards the whole Unukalhai using a clearance code had me further believing he is personally intimate with Allagans in a "from their time" kind of way. He mentions he escaped a dying star as a result of the same things happening there (primal crazy, aether eating etc) last WT quest, as well as already exhibiting intimate knowledge of Allag the moment we meet him - and with all this crazy tech Allag has including intertellar ships and so on... it got my absurd headcanon going again that they aren't originally from this very star and came here after their original star was shriveled up from their pollution and resource guzzling on it - could that be a thing?

Of course, I don't entire subscribe to it. Unukalhai is not from this star but could have learned much of Allag here (if a little too much to not be sharing, for his secretive ways are curious indeed), and the death of his own star could have been done by a similar evil akin to the Allagan Empire. And also we know Allag used to worship the twelve, so the whole interstellar thing might have come after Xande's ressurection... or not, they have always been super advanced and we just don't have the info to know how advanced the "old Allagan Empire" was, especially on a space-faring way. At the very least I do believe that while they may not have arrived here, in some few numbers they may have in fact left here.

Lastly, Sophia's prison was to be located at the heart of Allag, does this mean not on board the Flagship and actually on the ground in a city to be used as a spectacle I wonder? The wording of that line seemed to indicate it was. It never came to pass that much is evident, if that's so.

Crazy thoughts over.

While I don't feel much for Minni leaving us, I do feel sadness for F'lhaminn and Thancred especially, along with the other Scions' as they were way more close to her.

Look at the light and dark scenario as yin and yang rather than good and evil. e.g. the sun is neither good nor evil, but if the sun never goes down, you'll have scorched earth and nothing will grow. So I look at light/dark in this world setting as astral/umbral aspected power or energy and life can only exist if both are present in certain quantities. So a person can be an astrally-aspected, but totally evil dude and his sworn enemy will be an umbrally-aspected, but totally cute/adorable person.

If anything, Lahabrea is even less likely to come back at this point because the Ascians have had their hands on the Eyes for a couple weeks to a few months by now, and done absolutely nothing about it.

Several conditionals need to be fulfilled for Lahabrea's return - still alive in the Eye, not consumed by either Thordan or Nidhogg using their powers, someone breaks it and lets him out - and with the Ascians taking a backseat and playing a more conservative game, it's not very likely. They've had every chance to do so, so unless the Griffin or some other mortal does something incredibly stupid it's not happening, and even if it does the chances of Lahabrea coming out are incredibly small. Elidibus even said he had "fallen" along with Igeyorhm, meaning he is functionally dead.

People have iterated this time and again... I don't know why I'm bothering.

Well with the revelation that interdimensional travel is totally possible, the likelihood of Unukalhai also being from a shard world has risen. This was my original hypothesis, given how much he seems to know about stuff he shouldn't and his nebulous "master" (more than likely Elidibus). You can teach five people to interdimensionally travel, one more is nothing, and it explains why his world was destroyed. Almost. Maybe it's the Void itself! /Prophetic Ravings

Dinner with Aymeric, yay! It was such a nice change of pace to see us relax and chatting in peace, God knows we never have that kind of luxury before. I was so relieved when we just turned down the wine (I don't drink irl) though when I saw the servant preparing what I think was tea, and and the many bottles on the table, my character's face couldn't describe my thoughts better: "What the hell is he making???". I half expected someone to pull Nanamo for a moment xD.

Alisae! The girl's injured and left us with a warning, so off we go to Xelphatol. The fight wasn't bad thought I kinda wish they give us more lore about the Ixals; "Who give the Ixal boss steroid?? Why Garuda can be summoned like that??" I mean, we seriously breach into Ixal home, and we get nothing beside 'oh there's summoning ongoing, let's stop them' ??

OK, I was wrong, thanks SE. We stopped the summoning in time before WoD could take all the credit. Big revelation? That soon? Please I think my brain melt, I never like alternate-universe-story, they rarely end good >.>
Oh great, another smug face, I should've got option to slash that smile of hers with my cards. Really, does no one among WoD have any redeeming quality? Oh wait, who's that masked Elezen again? No, not the BLM, the one with book on his hip! A new addition? Thinking, thinking...

Ok, so the Masked Griffin is not someone from Corpses. Well at least they do recruit Corpses into their ranks, much to some NPC's annoyance. His voice is distinct and kinda reminds me of Ilberd's. But no, I'm still adamant it's not him; thanks Gamerescape because yes, I forgot about any quest in Quarrymill!

OMG the fight against WoD was epic! SE please let us redo instanced battles there are so many I wish I could redo ;_; . And SE really did quite a good job disguising Urianger; we know nothing of his appearance beside goggles and hood, so give him a veil and show his hair, and we don't recognize him. Thank God they change his VA again, the previous one after Gideon Emery was so bad I cringed.

Alisae with blade of ~~light~~ magic! Red mage confirm for next new job! I didn't pay attention to her fighting though, it was bad enough I got swarmed 5 against 1. If only I did, or recorded it, I could make guess as to what the job will be; tank, dps, ~~healer~~?

My heart goes with WoD, really it does. But after some animosity and grins, I just don't feel bad as I probably should. Another revelation: they've surrendered their soul to save their world?? And they're now just the same as Ascians now? That means we will be the same then? I don't know what or what anymore, I watched everything in disbelief....

Aww, Minfillia's back again (wait, didn't she said last time she/Hydaelyn had no power left??). And she offered to cleanse the First from its excessive Light, bringing WoD with her. Isn't that a bit too quick tho? We get their motivation alright, but I feel like we can get some more characterization from WoD. Maybe it's just because I'm biased with the whole alternate universe thingies *shrug* but they're there to balance Light and Dark so why put them off now??. At least we get some closure for papa Thancred.... and F'lhaminn. God I've been wondering if we would ever tell her the truth, but in the end she knows... I'll never see her in the eyes again...

Yda got found just now?? Where you've been old man? And she was part of resistance who toppled the King of Ruin or at least her father was. He said she doesn't seem to age hm? This plot point has been there for some time I think we need to know why the Circle never age. Yda's not a princess though, at least not royal princess, doesn't mean she's not part royalty but do we ever know what race the king was? Likely highlander but who knows?

Back to Rising Stones (shoo, Kidibus, adults talk). I don't know, Alphi, your vision seems so, how to put it, unclear? Disorganized? But at least I got to pick my own way; back to adventuring. It's nice to be back home!

Ascian involvement, again?? And of course the Eyes are back but for what purpose? Summoning? Doesn't seem so to me. But what then? Omega? Likely. I'll just hold my brake now, not too much to go on speculating.

Really? Nero, of all people? You got me fooled there, I thought you turned a new leaf. Wait, you only realized that you can't get what you want from relying on that device you threw, and neither from Darkness. So he's set for Omega now, hm. Just what exactly he's after? Power? Recognition? To be better than Cid?

Next patch will be prologue to Ala Mhigo war, I'm sure of it.

So the woman is the goddess Sophia and the head.... her daughter? She called that head daughter after all... Maybe her theme's lyric can shed some light so I'm just waiting ;_; .

And not once she's mentioned as some benevolent goddess, instead Unukalhai said she's a cunning one, allying her faction with resistance within the empire and feigned defeat, only to strike the empire from within. I don't know if this trait really was attributed to her in the religion or it simply her summoning resulted in a cunning goddess. It's not the first time a summoning results to something horribly wrong.

And while Y'shtola disagrees, I'm a little bit grateful I'm not the one to kill all those captive thralls. I know the consequences, doesn't mean I like doing it. But if Unukalhai keeps trying to shoulder all burden like that, it won't end well for him. I know it didn't for me before *coughDRKquestcough*.

I'll be finishing some other stuffs like Scholasticate and Alex tonight, but so far I have no complain to them.

Coming into the boss room of Gubal on Tues, hearing new boss music...knew Heavensward was over. Ominous Prognostics was basically synonymous with Heavensward dungeons, and it was gone. Message was clear: time to move on.

who is the new narrator? Papalymo? I feel it is, but I just can't place it.

In Japanese, at least, it's Honoroit. Hoping that means something for down the line, but he could just be a doublecast like Tataru is for Nanamo.

MSQ thoughts:

Late to the party, so most of what I felt going through has been said already, except for

DAMN IT I KNEW URIANGER WAS HOT UNDER THAT GOGGLE/HOOD COMBO.

*ahem*

Aside from that, RIP Unei. You were one of Final Fantasy's most memorable mentors, reduced to a one-off refrigerator woman for Nero's development.

Which didn't even stick. CT continuity bubble confirmed.

Which also means that Cid won't ever remember that the Allagans did actually have a means of traveling between planes of existence without destruction of the flesh (not that they knew it themselves), and Naelcat will forever be a what-if character at best.

Also, not gonna rant about Minfilia, because with her parting words she proved she understood that the WoL MO is not just to do the impossible, but to come back safe as well. F'lhaminn thinks so, too, so she's definitely going to be back for the grand finale.

Thanks for trying to explain about Light and Darkness.

Maybe I really should just stop thinking of Light = good and Darkness = bad, but its really hard to do so, especially since the Ascians who are part of the Dark side are doing quite the evil things. I am interested how exactly we will be able to keep balance without freeing Zodiark. Maybe at the end of the story we will give up all of our crystals to help balance it, like we did now with the WoD's world?
