    I think it was interesting that the new Imperial viceroy of Ala Mhigo was mentioned several times and I'm sure they will be revealed in 3.5-3.55 and is likely to be a major 4.0 antagonist.

    Also its interesting to see the goddess lore and the 'revelation' about Regula was quite obvious, since he gave me the same air as Rhitathyn(?) furthermore I think it is confirmed that Unukalhai is Elidibus pupil but it is hard to say if he will follow his master, he seems willing to do bad stuff for the greater good but in general seems a good character, aside from that... I'm sure the real gryphon is Ilberd (the rage mentioned by Elidibus reflects a bit what Raubahn told us during the 'victory lap' quests.

    Yda's father being part of the resistance is interesting, that said I still think she's a royal

    - I'm hoping that there's a long lasting consequence to saving Estinien in that by sparing his life and not killing him as he desired we ended up not being able to take the chance to obliterate Nidhogg's Eyes once and for all. Throwing them into the chasm was a bit of a silly decision but it makes more sense if it was done out of desperation. Having many more people perish as a consequence of Nidhogg's Eyes being allowed to persist, though, would make for a pretty interesting narrative moving forward now that they're once again in the hands of someone with ill intent.

    @Alleo's teleport question:
    The people shown to be teleporting quickly are all people more than adept at channeling and utilizing aether. Urianger and the Leivelleur twins are like as not among the most studious Sharlayans we have, and we already know Y'shtola is a master of the teleportation magicks. That they would be able to teleport quickly is of little surprise, imo. For laymen and the rank and file teleporting would be an extended, complicated process, but we are dealing with prodigiously talented people there. As for why we couldn't teleport Haurchefant and ourselves to safety while the Spear of the Fury sought to pierce his shield I offer the scantest explanation: The Warrior of Light has never been able to teleport in combat. Everyone else there, Estinien, Aymeric, the Greystone bastard, none had been shown to know teleportation magicks before and Lucia has a canonical inability to manipulate aether owing to her Garlean heritage.

    The Warriors, Arbert & Co? They don't seem to play by the same rules as us, perhaps by chance of being from another world but the fact remains they would've possessed similar skills and innate aether manipulating ability as ourselves. Their advanced teleporation skills are similar how we've seen Ascians, so I suspect they've tapped into a power of the Echo we've yet to fully master.

    I think this bit is pretty clear. There is a Source and there are thirteen reflections of the Source. So fourteen variations on Eorzea.

    Well, fourteen makes sense, since we're in XIV. It also mirrors the way the boss of the VIIth Legion mirrored Sephiroth (to a point) and the same for the VIth and Kefka (to a point).

    We know from Soul Surrender that the First is closest to the light. And the shard closest to the darkness has turned into the Void. I'm not teaching anyone to suck eggs here, but fourteen splits nicely down the middle, with no one side having an extra shard.

    So does that mean the Source is closer to the Light or closer to the Dark?

    So, my quick diagram looks something like this...

    Is the Source near the middle? It can't be right in the middle because there's no half-shards. Whole numbers only, people! Is it position 7 or 8?

    Has the loss of the shard closest to the dark (14), evened out the number of positions either side of the Source? Would that bring this pattern into line with Elidibus' touchstone of equilibrium? Has allowing the 14th position (13th shard for those keeping up) to be consumed by the Void left 6 shards either side of the Source? Does that make his goal easier?

    Or, if the Source is position 8, are there now less steps for Dark to get through before it reaches the Source?

    I'm not 100% sure where any of this goes (if at all!) but it bugged me all day and I had to type it up to see if I genuinely deserved the mad prophet card.

    Thanks for trying to answer my question. Its true that they never showed us teleporting in a fight scene which I always took more as a gameplay restriction. And Titan was already killing the kobolds so he would have been in fighting mode. Yet we all were able to get away safely. And Aliase managed to take the young kobold with him (I doubt that he knows how to teleport) so its seems that its possible to take others with us. The past cant be undone but its small things like that, that leave more "why couldnt we.." which is bad if its in a situation where another person ends up death >_<..

    A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

    Can we just talk about how cute Unukalhai continues to be?

    He starts off distant and professional, socially awkward and endearingly naive, not understanding why we would accept or trust him. Over the course of his quests he slowly warms up to others that (rightfully) have reason to doubt him and in turn he even tells us some of his greatest secrets against his better judgement. It's becoming a mutual trust as he opens up to us, as well, more than simple duty or companionship, but true friendship.

    And in this patch, he becomes one of the few characters that actively attempts to protect our character and takes upon the dirtier duties of destroying the Goddess' Tempered himself.
    (also talk to him and ask him about himself after the Extreme quest).

    He's so doomed. RIP this cutie.
    But damn if I just don't want to cuddle him forever.

    with all those new info we get from the MSQ, he could be basically anyone from another world. he could be a young version of a character we know. or someone we don't know despite that mask. at least i don't think it's Lahabrea anymore...

    Everyone has covered most of my thoughts on the MSQ, so I won't spend a lot of time repeating things others have already said. I do love how well they were able to play me with the "is Urianger a traitor?" plot. I thought for sure he was going to turn on us, yet he didn't. I think it was Anonymoose above who said that he trusts Urianger less now than before due to how easily he was able to manipulate his friends and comrades and even be willing to sacrifice them. I can't help but mirror his opinions of Urianger at this point. I don't trust him, but I don't not trust him, either. I think it was handled in a very satisfactory way.

    One thing I noticed, and I'm sure this is no accident, was that the story is beginning to reel itself back into the core of Eorzea rather than Ishgard, and you can really start to feel it this patch. We're dealing with problems that are closer to home, we're re-establishing operations in the Rising Stones; you can almost feel the tidal pull of the story coming back in. With how the MSQ ended, I was expecting to see credits rolling. It had a sense of finality and a return to normal that 3.3 didn't have.

    We're taking a deep breath before we leap into the deep end of Ala Mhigo and I can't wait.

    EDIT: On the subject of Papalymo: I'm not sure I entirely trust him. He's clearly holding something back, and we've been betrayed too many times before for me to not become a bit cynical about it. I don't think that Yda is going to betray us; at least not in a sneaky way. I can see her leaving the Scions to go help the Ala Mhigan Resistance and that forcing Papalymo to reveal whatever secret is between him and Yda. I'm hoping for more character development in those two in the coming patches, and if Yda continues to be represented the way she was in this patch, I'd be happy to have her front and center for 4.0.
