Purchasing an Apartment

Each apartment building can house up to 90 tenants, with each room costing 500,000 gil. Players are allowed one apartment per character. Furthermore, it is possible to own both an estate and an apartment.

.....Really? 500,000 Gil? And I'm betting there is not enough of these apartments for every player in the game? Just why 500,000?

At the end of the day, its a game, everyone has the right to enjoy every aspect of the game, why should anyone be left out? Not exactly fair play now is it? But of course, who is gonna care about fairness now a days, seems that the world has lost sight of that.

So if any of you wants to chastise me for thinking of the equal enjoyment of everyone, go right ahead, your only proving me right and doing nothing but making yourselves look bad.

Fair is always difficult, and if often misjudged. An FC room is 300k, an apartment is 500k, apartments are 500k because within your purchase, you get access to a chcobo stable, market board, retainer bells, et all which you dont need to pay for like players with private rooms would have to.


Second point, getting 500k is easy. 1 full run of potd gets you 1 gelmorran potsherd you can trade in for a materia you can selll for around 300k, do Weeping Ciity as well and your done.

Third every player DOES have the right to enjoy all aspects of the game. SE arent stopping you, you have the same chance to experience it as everyone else. Its not that people should be left out, its that server space is limited, thats why there isnt space a million apartments just to make sure everyone (and thier alts) gets one.

Being ll 50 is important, unless you want people logging in, buying them all up, and selling them to you at a markup

There are 72 zones that hold apartment buildings.

3 city state housing areas x (12 wards each + 12 subdivisions each)

OH yeah i messed that up....one did one city state...so make that 3 billion plus gil

Let's not complain about price, it's a very good way to get rid of gil in the game. And it's permanent, it can't be auto-demolished nor is it tied to a FC like private chambers it is literally yours FOREVER.

(1) You get over a million gil by doing the MSQ to Lv60. (Im fairly sure I had 500k by your level, if not waaaay more.

(2) Ive NEVER spent a single day trying to go out and earn gil. By just leveling up, doing MSQ, and or doing dungeons for fun at endgame (as I dont really do roulettes, i hate grinding too hard) I easily have 10 million gil, simply because there is no reason to ever spend my gil, and the game throws it at you.

(3) Yoshida said not to worry about the 90 apartment limitation, as there is no "actual" limitation, unlike housing, because the game will add more apartments, if they all get filled up. This will be done infinitely to match the demand from the player base.

Gil prices kind of vary from server to server, there is no universal economy...

So 500k might be a lot on some servers, it might be small change on some.
And it comes with only access to a chocobo stable really...

500k might be a little excessive for what you get, but it's not the billions you have to pay for a small house.

You get a Grade V Materia just for doing 50 floors of PotD. If you can't do that or Mhach to sell some Grade V Materia to buy the apartment you really have no business owning one.

Gil is really easy to make. You just need to put a little effort in (or none if you're lucky). Don't even need to be a crafter.

I've been sitting on about 80mil for probably a month now, but over that time I've made (and spent) probably 25-30 mil (heck, two weeks ago I made 5 mil just off venture stuff). I'm not a crafter, and really should get back into it so I don't have to rely on others for my food and pots again

A lot of the gil I've gotten is by making my retainers do Quick Explorations - they're all level 60 and decently geared, so I come up with some nice (and sometimes rare) stuff that I can sell.
