Gender Change a Shocking Twist

I believe a gender change is no more or less controversial than a race change.

Sure you can joke about "losing weight" when switching from a rogadyn to a Mi'quote... but you also grew a tail in the process and your facial structure changed and your bones shrunk too.

In fact, I would consider someone moving from cat-girl to cat-boy to be LESS drastic than going from a midget-girl to Merlwyb.

And if we're allowing racial morphing, gender morphing only becomes more logical.

If the player isn't comfortable changing gender, then that is up to them.

I'll bet money that Cendres and Irondude are both guys who like to watch their miquote "bounce" and are prob male playing female avatars for enjoyment, if they got sick of looking at a sexy cat girl and wanted to just have a regular, male, non-chauvinistic representation of their own gender, how is that shocking? and shouldn't they have the opportunity to make that change if desired.

Is the implication that the gaming community is more sexist than racist, or are they concerned that the lesbians will become female galka and the gays will switch to male miquote, effectively coming out of the online closet. What is happening here is potentially more than just a funny looking avatar overhaul. It will have sociological repercussions in-game, just wait. Players will get crap for being male miquote and knuckle draggers will think its funny to have a female galka named Rug Munch. Lets face it, the gaming community is mostly male, and they prob weren't the most socially adept, hence mmorg's.

Will all the nerds/bros will be bummed because they'll be faced with the realities of the ppl that actually exist in the world as opposed to the fantasy reality they choose to escape to everyday? I would hope that SE would realize that they have fans of all genders, races, and sexual orientations and if they come out with a character that someone more closely identifies with, it is not the company's place to ethically pass judgement on their consumers personal choices. Come on SE understand the implications of your statements, if you have a problem with it, don't make it an option.

Just because a lot of ppl in the gaming world are closed minded and incapable of change doesn't mean that SE should cater to their hostile ignorance.

I know it's a joke and all, but I still don't know why the hell they're making this much of a fuss about allowing gender changes. Release it, let people decide if they wanna use it. Make it a 1 time deal thing. I've absolutely failed to see why this is such a problem besides the fact that Yoshi-P seems uncomfortable with the idea. Most of the player population wants it, I've seen more people for it than against it. So just release it, leave it as only a 1 time deal when first logging in after 2.0 goes live. The end.

A: As I mentioned earlier, now is the only time where certain achievements are available. On top of that, we're currently working on something quite unique regarding the character's appearance. Please consider it a sign that the character has loved living throughout that era. And of course, they may be treated differently in game. For example, players' title may change as well as NPC reactions to them may differ.

By locking out character gender changing they're preventing players from carrying over these features. Someone who had started as a Miqo'te because they wanted to play a feline character cannot play as what they really wanted, a Miqo'te male, without restarting. Thus they don't get all these extra features such as the achievements, equipment only available during this era, and this appearance thing they're doing. On top of that, I believe it would also make you ineligible for the Goobbue mount they were considering.
