I didn't get the impression that anyone was suggesting the game would become solo oriented. I think the issue is that the game has only recently become more party-centric with the induction of exp chains and links, Ifrit, Darkhold was a stepping stone, lowered leve rewards, etc.

Seems it would be CounterProductiveII (lol c wut i did) to not spend time / resources into making more group content.

That's what it comes down to.. time / resources - having this solo stuff might be fine at some point, but right now we need more group oriented content to go along with the party-centric direction that game is moving in. And really the solo content might be (Fun) but I have a feeling it would be a "one and done" thing. "I beat it, here's my achievement, now I'm not going back".

Issue with a solo dungeons I see is balance, some classes will just be far better then others in it. So for some classes it will be a joke to beat others it will be nightmarishly hard.

That and Solo play does not show people you know your class in my opinion. It proves you can solo effectively, but in a group setting most those skills are usually worthless. In group situations the focus is working together balancing hate with dmg/cures apposed to knowing what to do alone which simply involves knowing what to do to survive longer then the opponent.
One way to counteract is for the dungeon spawn set to be based off of the class of the player. i.e. if you're a fighter make the dungeon spawn mobs full of stuff that has the potential to stun/cripple your fighting abilities. If you're a mage, spawn stuff that are resistant to your magic attacks - stuff like that.

I think this is a wonderful idea - especially if it gives you something to do when your friends aren't around.

Also, we already have a huge chunk of the game that is oriented towards solo-play: leves, gathering, and crafting. In my mind that is more than enough.

    1. MMO is a game you play online, you can't stop, you can't puase, once you die, the server auto-save it.

    2. In MMO, you meet people, interface with other player, so when necessary or conditionally, you can form a PARTY.

    3. As for distribution of content, it depends on how many player ONLINE SIMUTANEOUSLY. This is not something you can control.

4 man party should get lots of content
8 man party should get some content
16 and above should get very little content - barely 16 ppl can play online simutaneously.
As a result, solo player should get MOST content to play with.

So of course, i agree there should be more 1~4 players content so the game can attract more player to play as a whole.
Um are you saying there is never more then 16 people on your server at any given time? You may want to switch to a different server then because I know other servers have way more then that many on them at any given time frame...

4, 8, and 16 player content should always be at the top and should always be expanding... now am I saying no to solo content no I'm not but I don't think solo content should be at the top or have the most time put to it. I am also of the mindset as a few others have said... I play an MMO to meet people and go do things with a bunch of cool people I have met in game. So a lot of solo play content with little 8-16 person content would make this game very dull and boring... I love to be in a full party fighting through things and working together to get the content finished (which I'm working on with the LS I'm in now ^^ so fun^^).

So yeah I'm going to go with not just no but hell no to more solo content... they can make some now and then but the focus should be on parties and such...

nop .. not even close to "enough"

what we want is something not easy to solo + challenging ....
who cant do leves and quests.... they are just to lvl up
    not to test your skills

and please stop saying that this is MMO ,, we dont need solo
It shouldnt be 100% party base ... so that people can have fun doing something else rather than waiting for full set up party (if someone doesnt have LS)

Actually it does. MUDs and MMOs were designed to play with other human beings instead of purely interacting with (usually) dumb A.I.

It wasn't until the new generation of MMO gamers did they feel playing with others isn't the point of an MMO. Solo dungeons are fine, as long as you don't get anything useful out of it, because then SE will have to waste time balancing solo dungeon rewards versus group based rewards and no one will like the outcome of that.

    One word (name): "Shpochae"(lv.10-20).

For those who's nation is Limsa Lominsa, it's by Moraby Bay. Easy to solo during lv.15. You CAN if you want to. Basically it's a solo-able dungeon and not restricted by any rule or regulated terms. It's an open dungeon the way most adventurers like it.

Now if your thinking about dungeons like Toto-Rak(lv.30-45), i would kinda think down the lines of "Maybe". I know it could get kinda boring at low levels but what more would you rather be doing than guild-leves and learning the abilities of your class? Learning your way around and making gil would be a major concern. I like how you can go in the low level dungeons and occasionally group up with ppl and grow in your class more!

A specific dungeon for low level soloing is what you make of your current position and not official in the game. Everyone should be atleast lv.20 by now and it's easy enough to get that far. Low leveling is now considered lv.15-25 most likely by most server standards.
