You may be a bit mistaken.for sure this new 190 gear MAX STATS will be lower than the 195 gear max stats; by necessity of course; since SE already promised the max 195 would be the highest gear until 4.0; and how ridiculous would that be to introduce 195 one patch and he very next big patch make a cheaper version with similar max and 100% material melding slots???
Only the ironworks weapons are 195. Regular ironworks pieces are 190.
It's the Wondrous Tails versions. There are Ornate versions of all the i250 battle body pieces as well, which lines up with what we know about the gear. And thank god it's only the left side gear, no accessories, no belt, no tools. The only Ornate crafting piece anyone who melded their gear will actually want is the body piece, since all the other pieces (hat, gloves, pants, legs) are easily max meldable even without 5 guaranteed slots.
they are not gonna make a lower ilv body piece have more stats pre melds than the next ilv up (its not even he case with 195 vs 200); so in order for 190 to EVEN match 195 gear AFTER melds they would have to share the same caps and as is YOU CAN'T MAX 195.....so what makes u think u can max 190 AND BEAT OUT 195 petamelds????It's the Wondrous Tails versions. I thought it had been made fairly clear that the "Ornate" gear was a Wondrous Tails reward (shown on JP screenshot as "SP" gear variant of the Heavy Metal Cuirass of Maiming (that is the Ornate Heavy Metal Cuirass of Maiming)). I can't see an ornate upgrade item in of itself anywhere in the notes to suggest otherwise.
So the only difference between the (likely) rare Ornate Ironworks crafting gear and normal (crafted) Ironworks gear is that the Ornate variant has 5 100% slots, thus allowing sensible and affordable use of more Tier V materia to cap the stats on an item. For example the Ornate Ironworks Apron of Crafting is the same iLevel as the crafted Ironworks Apron of Crafting (i190). Therefore it's stats will be the same, meaning that prior to melding it is indeed inferior to the Augmented i200 Scrip gear. However following melds the i190 becomes superior to the i200, and with 5 100% slots for example:
Ironworks Apron of Crafting HQ (Unmelded): 254/80/4.
Augmented Hidekeep's Apron: 270/90/4.
Ironworks Apron of Crafting HQ (2x Tier V (100%), 3x Tier IV (Overmelds)): 277/91/4.
Ornate Ironworks Apron of Crafting HQ (5x Tier V (100%)): 287/94/4.
Clearly the Ornate then becomes the most powerful because it is entirely cost-effective to exclusively use Tier V materia, hence making sense to keep it locked behind the heavy RNG inherent in Wondrous Tails (see: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...diculously-low )

if all you say is true then the first guy I was unjustly trolling is most correct.... most serious carfters already have all the current 190 gear and max melds; all but body & tools can already be capped so the only ornament worth investing in (if you didnt' already petameld V's on current) is the Apron.I thought it had been made fairly clear that the "Ornate" gear was a Wondrous Tails reward (shown on JP screenshot as "SP" gear variant of the Heavy Metal Cuirass of Maiming (that is the Ornate Heavy Metal Cuirass of Maiming)). And if there is a glam difference
I doubt it. Some pieces are max'd sure, because the caps were low.
But because there wasn't anything to craft that was all that difficult (before this patch anyway) it would be gil-foolish to penta-meld the pieces that can't be capped. And I suspect many "serious" crafters therefore didn't bother, instead choosing to save their money and materia for post-patch melds.
Of course, if you just felt like blowing gil on bragging rights, and penta-melded your chest piece for that reason, hey, it's just a game, so why not?
There's no upgrade to Ironworks gear. The Ornate Ironworks Gear is the same thing but with 5 guaranteed melding slots, rather than the fewer slots on the normal gear. It can only be got through the incredibly rare chance of "winning" Wondrous Tails.
The real new crafter gear is the offhands & accessories in the Handmaster/Landmaster series that can now be bought with Blue Scrip Tokens & upgraded to Augmented using the Goblin Cups/Dice from Red Scrips.
Hope that clears things up.
I'm salty about the now upgradable i180 gear. I turned mine in for GC seals once my Ironworks were all pentamelded. I wanted my retainer space. If the stats don't give me a noticeable edge I will skip it. Fingers crossed.![]()
The i200 Augmented Accessories are still garbage same as their i180 counterparts were even with the addition of one extra stat each (e.g. the earrings are +5 Crafts as well now). The i200 offhand is definitely a viable option though
Agreed, I really wish they would open the augmented gear to a few materia slots and then forbid over melding just to make them competitive with IW gear.
