Why is Yoshi P turning his back on the playerbase that loves this game the most?

Judging by how you guys are discussing things 4.0 will determine if you guys will actually stay or leave FFXIV for good. So its on Yoshi Ps hands pretty much. I just don't want this game to be in that spot when the damage is already done thats when they start to care and cater to what people seem to have wanted in the first place after they loose subs.

Most people not joining 4.0 will have probably left the game already though. I think everyone in this thread is optimistic for FFXIV, but they are worried about it's future.

Changes are happening in 4.0. Don't know what or for better or worse, but changes are happening. Reason you don't see any dramatic changes in 3.0 because what they implement is already far into the development cycle and changing things would set them back much further and patches would get delayed. They can make minimal changes like difficulty balancing or changing reward structure, but usually in MMO's in general you don't see dramatic changes to the game till a expansion comes in.

I'm not actually really optimistic about 4.0, given some trends that have been on going and Yoshi P confirming would be present in 4.0, such as tomes, savage and story difficulty raids, and other things like the lack of decent filler content opposite PotD, and the fact they haven't announced the cancelation of ps3 support and features promised but taken away and constantly pushed back. Makes me feel uneasy, like the team needs to pull back and reorganize their priorities before I say I'm optimistic.

Granted there will be things fixed as they take away older designs, even non in game based issues need to be addressed, region locked content is a big one as well as better community management is a must going forward, they really can't have another issue with UK players out right calling for the heads of the people who designed their special promotion for the White Chocobo, they also can't keep that crazy fan theory in place that claims that the JP forums are their first area of priority.

Being a legacy player, I love this game so much that I stopped playing other games and will only stop playing this until this game dies. I will support this no matter what however, I agree with you on some points. What I really don't like in its current state is the cash shop. Right now with the minions, mounts , emote and gears in Mogstation (soundtrack, dolls, figures and Artbook and stuff) I think it is becoming more and more crazy. The price is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I'm OK with buying stuff from the Mogstation but it's becoming over the top now compared to previous years.

Every dungeon should be made so our actual item level was somewhat close to it. Today i rolled in all i250 into Xelphatol, the numbers i was pulling off were absolutely insane, and there is still 20 item levels to get more. This diference is just way too much.

In 3 more months, i can totally see people doing Xelphatol or Gubal in less than 13 minutes.

So there's no reason to bring my monk in above the i210 entry leveI? That's good, it's always been the job I geared up least.

Tomes or an equivalent therein will remain because you have to enforce some degree of limitation on players to keep them playing content. It's easy enough to say how you dislike the system but what do you purpose shall take its place? A MMO needs to keep people doing old content if it aims to bring in a consistent flux of new players. Is armour upgrade drops really a big enough difference? They likely haven't announced the PS3 cancellation going forward because they want to limit the number of potential lost players as much as possible. I guarantee they have along already made the decision. Us knowing about it now or last year isn't going to change anything.
