As I said before, if you've truly changed, just ignore them. All they seem to be doing is making sure they keep up with who you change to in order to avoid you in the future and warn others of your past actions. The fastest way to make it disappear is to prove them wrong and change, not.. whatever this is. If their accusations are false then it won't really matter what they're telling people. Others will see that and be able to judge on their own accord, even if they read the PSAs and become wary. If this behavior still continues regardless of where you go, what you do, and how you act, then it's maybe time for a bit of inward looking.

See, I have no horse in this race. But I've been able to avoid several very toxic people due to the lodestone feature. Several of whom have either harassed myself or someone else within my friend group. Now as someone in a position of power in a guild it also helps me watch out for people who have harassed others in case they try to enter the FC. I would prefer it stay honestly and I know a lot of people who feel the same.

My sentiments exactly. It helps keep up with people that are problems to their community. I have never seen a group of people (or server in this case) use it unless there was some very good reason to keep that person at bay.

You lost that chance a long time ago tbh and I see no indication that you have changed or bettered yourself or intend to in the near future. If you want it to stop, stop coming into places like this and lying, and stop trying to drag every new person who joins your linkshell into this drama by trying to smear me to them and play the victim, and I'll have no reason to keep calling you out. I am not the one continuing this, but I won't just stay silent as you spout off lies about me for sympathy. Even if you don't drop my name, I don't play those kinda games.

I believe the ultimate point of this thread showcases the nature of the internet. People can't let others have opinions, and many are vindictive while trying to hide behind the notion of a "PSA" by implying they're righteous and just warning people of others. No. In my opinion, people can be intelligent if they want; they should be able to make judgments for themselves without influence. Acquire first impressions by themselves, without allowing that to taint future viewpoints and just get to know them.

Any who go to the lengths of harassment as is described here -- even to the point where they find a person hidden away in a small suggestion forum -- may need to take a look at their priorities in life. You're not being a defender of what you believe in. You're being a defender of yourself, patting yourself on the back and likely making yourself feel good by perpetuating a malicious cause of harming someone that may or may not have wronged you. Two wrongs don't make a right.

The Lodestone doesn't allow you to look up old names - it attaches each character to a permanent character number that cannot be changed.

So when you make a character on any server, the game will randomly assign that character a number (like 1234567, for example.) Your character name is attached to that number (for example "FFXIV Heavensward"). The number is unique across ALL SERVERS in the game, whereas the name is simply unique to the server you're on. There can only be one Character #1234567, but each server can have its own "FFXIV Heavensward".

Changing your name is only changing the surface aspect of this part of your account. So if you change from "FFXIV Heavensward" to "FFXIV HWPlayer" - the game still uses the numbered marker to identify you as the same character prior to the name change (as in, according to the game's data, you're still Character #1234567.) If the game didn't do this, whenever you chose to name change, the game would literally drop you from any sort of Social lists - it'd throw you off Blacklists, off Friends Lists, it's throw you out of all your Linkshells, and out of your Free Company. All because the game would have no way to remember that you're the same character from before.

Since the Lodestone is part of the game system, it uses these character numbers in order to arrange all of the character data and let it be searchable via a database. It is essential to how the game works - for the system to be modified in the way you desire is not really feasible. The Lodestone works fine.

You say you're being stalked and harassed by an individual or multiple individuals, however there are several avenues open to you to handle this besides requesting that an essential in-game system be changed. The in-game support functions are there to help you in times like this. You claim to have filed a police report but I do not see anything about you having spoken with the GMs in the game regarding the matter. It begs the question as to why? If these people were, in fact, guilty of harassing you in game as you claim, then the GMs and other members of the Support Staff would handle the situation. However, if no wrong doing is actually occurring, then they would not have recourse to punish the individuals in question.

This has become an issue of differing opinions between you and I now. People have different personalities, and a right to such. I have been used all my life for my gentle and scholastic nature; I have never said any ill of these people. I've have girlfriends cheat on me. I wish them the best for their future. What you are doing -- even posting that -- goes back to my original post, when I had no knowledge that there was any person out there. This is, in my opinion, outright villainy. No matter what personality someone has, what right have you to replicate it, if you think they're bad? My initial impression of you, as dictated by my unbias post prior to meeting you, is that you're scum. Worse than any others you claim is bad. Though hopefully such first impressions are wrong and you're simply being misguided.

The cons of this feature are outweighed by the pros. FC leaders can keep an eye on grab-and-dash FC chest ninjas, catfishers (no pun intended), and other people they've had or are expecting to have problems with, individual players can keep tabs on folks they'd like to avoid without having to get the GMs involved every time, and there's a bit of accountability for bad behavior when you can't just name change and drop off the map after you've made a heel out of yourself.

I think the only thing I'd change is the activity feed for my friends list. I like my friends and all, but man, that is more information than I really need. XD
