Estimated time before we can patch? Will it be sooner then launch?

Just wondering.. since this is my 1st time being around for a large patch.

Will we be able to patch before the servers are live? If so, what time does the launcher allow us to patch? Would hate to think it all happens at 6am EST as soon as 3.4 goes live..

Normally you should be able to patch around (earliest) 6pm / 9pm (latest) pst. However there have been a couple bigger patches, where the update wasn't available till midnight. I would just say check every 3 hrs and hope that the servers go online earlier than 3am. Again in the past mostly we have been back online at 1 or 2 am pst and the updates were available 4 hrs prior to that. :d

Oh my.. so you are saying it may not be 6am EST that everything is up, but in fact servers could be online earlier? Does this mean I should be up at 3am EST waiting? lol

Also be aware that if you're on a very populated server (not sure how Hyperion is these days) that there's usually plenty of issues with actually getting into the game. On Balmung it is a nightmare and usually takes about 30-45 minutes just to get in and then you need to keep your fingers crossed that the server doesn't explode.

I dont know WHY you all overpack Balmung.. I saw prices for things, I saw how no one gets a mouse plot really.. and yet people still transfer in.

Tho on the upside... did hear no RMT tells either.

Yeah 9/10 we can download the whole patch before the servers go live. Depending on your internet connection it should be downloadable like 1-3 hours before hand so by the time servers do go live you'd have the patch fully downloaded and ready to go. The only time it would go past it's patience schedule if something goes wrong which is rare.

for EST its normally about 6 am for servers...a couple hours before for patch download. However, if you are on one of the crazy servers like mine, id get up an hour earlier and check here and there

It is the RP server, and I would've played on it too if it wasn't for two things:

1. NA server, now when we have EU data center I am never going to look back. I do rather play on the EU RP server, Odin, so that I can raid without dying to AoE circles despite being a mile out of them.

2. Legacy server meaning that the economy was ****** since day one. No way I would go to a server where I will have literally no hope to ever get a house or anything like that, and now I have friends on Odin, so really no point in changing now, is it?

EDIT: So yeah, if I lived in NA I would most likely play on Balmung now as the economy is slightly better balanced in between servers (i.e. most are equally bad). For RPers the RP server is a must no matter what.

Some of us are on Balmung because we have been there since 1.x's launch. After 2.0, people slowly started moving there, more and more. If they had let us transfer off at the beginning of 2.0, I probably would have, but now?
