I am very unimpressed with their latest call in FFXIV, could maybe lose my business forever, 20 yrs of customer reliability.
I'm not sure why one game that didn't turn out well for you should mean you refuse to consider anything else they ever produce forever. That's a rather spiteful attitude to have.

It really is an immature stance on the subject, but what you need to think is, well they will make better games soon.

Also technicly there are alot of games you cant play, FF, Kingdom hearts, Deus Ex and if you look deep into it in Japan CoD has the SE name on it so technicly you couldnt play those if you never want to play any game SE has anything to do with.

well if they can't make there own games correctly maybe they need to stop charging money on broken ones so that they can afford to buy out other companies that are making these competent games lol. let them all crash and burn for the company that can actually launch a game correctly rather then knowingly stealing peoples money. i dunno how that becomes immaturity? lol i guess hippies and vegan colonies or whatever are immature to the world too. it's a choice of morality ..even though a game seems like a steep thing to use that word with to some.

They arent stealing anyones money, loyal fans will stay to fund the development up to v2.0 even if they say v2.0 is FFXIV's last chance because they have have had so many chances, they released 1 game too early and your thinking that SE is a failure of a company and deserve to go under, you have said you have been a loyal fan of SE since FF1, if you were as loyal as you say then you will be willing to give FFXIV this last chance, and you would not boycot every game made by SE unless it becomes a trend.

I will admit the recent FF games have not been up to the quality of previous titles but I am seeing that trend along the entire gaming industry is it volume problems, is it low staffing or somthing else we will never know but I feel most games are going down in quality in recent years and people havent fought back since FFXIV.

If you asked me games peaked in the late 90s and early 2000s but I am personnaly giving FFXIV until after v2.0 to improve, and I will be funding the transitional period as long as I can afford it because I am a loyal fan of the franchise.

If you choose to boycott a whole company because of one rushed out game you are not a loyal fan, you claim you are loyal until they mess up which is immature

Additionaly, Square Enix is a large publishing company. You'd be denying the ilk of Tomb Raider at this juncture, and all of their hard working developers for no other reason than to spite the umbrella company.

Square Enix has more than their simple in-house developers (Though they typically own the majority of their teams.) That'd be like approaching Kingdom Hearts or Dissidia on the merits of Front Mission or Infinite Undiscovery.

To the OP.. Do what you got to do. I've taken a month here, two months there from playing and I still have almost all 50's. Sometimes you just need to break from game and enjoy what RL or other games have to offer. In fact most of the time when I'm logged into 14 and waiting for my ls mates to get on or even during ifrit. I'm watching Netflix on ps3 or playing another game at the same time.

I feel you on some issues but I'm not worried so much because I know in the end SE will recover from all the crap that was launch. The unfortunate thing is we need to wait yet again for it. Some might not have the patience to do that but I do so I'm going to stay.

But anyway, good luck to you on what you want to do.

well you can call me a fan of ff and kingdom hearts at most, i'm not loyal to any company. that is all they are too me is companies. i don't see them as people or the games they create. i either like there game and buy it or i don't,an ff game won't get me to try a diff SE game for the most part, but SE launching early would keep me from buying another game. but even then i was only speaking in possibility, u took my words and turn them to stone. i said there moves with this game make we "want" to stop buying there games. but i said it wouldn't stop me, just that i don't blame anyone that does.

also if the problem is the whole of corporations in gaming then maybe boycotting a few will shape up the rest of them. though i doubt that would help anything lol. just taking an approach to your words.

I don't agree with this policy as honestly, precedent has shown that it has zero impact on the field what so ever.

Dragon Age I was an incredible game, and sold well. It had all the fundamentals and support, then it did terribly by comparison with Dragon Age II.

Did this mean Mass Effect was terrible? Same company, same approach, but Mass Effect II was widely received as better than the first, even though it was trimmed down.

Then we have to go into what Final Fantasy is as a franchise: A seriese of games with similar themes and Icons. That's it. The worlds in their history have gone from true fantasy to cyberpunk distopia and back again with iterations in-between - at least twice. Each world is unique and different in spite of similar themes.

It's almost impossible to keep the same base through it all and have them like all the games.

What causes companies to change, honestly? Media uproar. And we've done that. It's caused some of the most significant changes to Square Enix as a company to date. It may or may not increase the quality of the games made a they are kind of in an identity crisis about how to handle modern RPGs, but at least in the MMO field they've been a lot more open.

You can disagree with what they decide to do, but the open discourse shouldn't be discouraged. And your fandom of a series or company shouldn't be decided on one development team's individual decisions on one game. Rather the games themselves should be taken on their own merits.

FFXIV is the first major game I've seen them drop the ball on some of the major fundamentals, rather than simply make design choices I disagreed on. Only thing in recent memory that came close was the graphical problems with the Unreal Engine in The Last Remnant, which was a really good game otherwise.

If anything, the developers behind the game should be more in the forefront than they used to be. It shouldn't be 'Bethesda' or "EA/Bioware", it should be the specific teams and designers getting the attention they deserve for the game.

As far as SE ditching this project to prevent loss. The loss is already done, and the amount of loss already suffered is mamoth losses, a little more to make a turnaround (IE, a game that actually makes ANY money past it's maintenance cost.) will be worth keeping up for a good long while if only to make up for the money they've already lost on this project.

As far as people coming and going. The soap-box auction of opinions is over. The changes done by that sort of approach have been done. Now's the time to speak back on the level with the developers and create a clear message of. "This is what I would like. This is what I don't." And to really discuss and present it professionally.

It's not as if this game hasn't been in development for a year and suddenly they want us to pay for the same horrible thing it was before. A lot of progress has been made, and a clear course for what's going on is plotted for the future. They told us this was going to happen when suspended the payment to begin with.

Now for the most part, the 'companies' you argue shouldn't be treated like people, are the publishers, the higher ups. Those, you can treat however you like. But the development team are people. They have faces now we recognize and their own visions and dreams for the game just as we do. It's the companies that stare at sales and money figures and breath down their necks. The development team are busy trying to piece together and update a game that best matches our (the players and the developers/producers) shared dream.

I find it strange that the inner workings of gaming companies in this day and age still seem like an unknown to most. There's been plenty of media talking about it for the last few years.
