Query re: Patch Download

Hi All,

Sorry if this is the wrong place, just looking to pick someone's brains.
As i'm sure is the same for a lot of people, i'm working on patch day and don't really want to be sat waiting for the download to complete for hours when I get home
I play on a PS4 and my query is whether anyone knows if, by logging in in the morning, I will be able to leave it to download?
E.g if I log in and sit my character somewhere, when they get kicked off for the update and it goes back to the menu, will the game realise to download the patch?

When you get kicked from the server - your screen will stay there with the error message I'm afraid and you will need to go back to the login screen to update.

As Snat has said, there's no easy way to do what you're looking for. To be honest, the patch isn't likely to be that huge (usually less than a gig, by far) & the servers will be so congested anyway that you'll probably be unable to get into the world. Best just to start the download when you get home & have something to eat & drink. You could spend hours trying to log in anyway!

Get the Playstation remote play app and get that linked and test that it works outside of your wifi and then use that to download during a lunchbreak or something. That's how I tend to handle it.

I was contemplating this but apparently my work blocks certain outgoing traffic... ps being one of them had to tether to a friends 3g the other day to download the new phoenix wright. Mind you, could try that just to get on there and set it going i suppose... fingers crossed

Yeah it's enough that you start the game, login(you will need your one time password as well) and then it should start downloading the update and you can disconnect from it.

Download start during maintenance. And that will be probably 24h long like during the other main patches.

Install Remote Play on your home PC and connect to your console. Install LogMeIn or a service like that on your PC (one that uses HTTP or HTTPS only). At work connect to the web interface to your PC, then use your PC to control your console.

I don't think so, I tested it today and it ran pretty smoothly although they have "unlimited" 3/4G so I wouldn't know how much it used. My bf pretty much uses 4G (it's an EE 4G mini box thing) exclusively at home though and he hasn't run into any issues. If anything it's much more quick and reliable than the wifi :/
