It's not just you. Fluffy content is the main reason why I'm playing this game and not any other~Isn't it awesome that they add things they think the playerbase might find nice without having to be asked? Outside of wishing I could sit properly in the beach chairs in the Mist, I never gave this idea much thought but I was certainly excited to hear they'd add it. I really like how they don't ignore the fluffy side of content like many other games do. I appreciate that they actually have an interest in breathing some life into the social aspect of their game and consider such nice and harmless ideas as allowing players to all sit out on actual chairs during beach events rather than focusing entirely on some monotonous stat grind that a lot of players do not give a *bleep* about.
But that's just me.
Grinding for stats can only entertain me for so long.
Sometimes I wish the director would just stop talking about the game and just make it. He reminds me of Peter Molyneux at times.
Whenever he speaks he 1. Makes promises he can't keep. Egi glamour, housing. 2. Says something that pisses people off. Won't be adding job variety, wants to make the game even more faceroll easy. 3. Announces something that causes an outrage. cash shop or emotes attached to $100 statues or gender locked battle rewards.
At this point whenever he does an interview it's just putting me off the game more and more. I'm already teetering on the fence of quitting come the expansion and at this point whenever he speaks he's just tipping me even further to the quitting side.
He said it wouldn't be the reward for clearing PotD, but due to demands, he will start making the outfit. (and in 6+ months it will be done)Woah woah woah Edda glamour won't be Unisex but will be a reward for PotD and no male equivalent?
Bad move. Baaaad move. It's one thing to make Gold Saucer and Cash Shop stuff gender-locked.
Rewards for battle content is a whooooole different issue.
Bad bad bad bad...
I don't want the outfit at all but this'll not be taken lightly by the community...
Most likely it will be mog station.
CLAIRE PENDRAGON
Oh and ffxi's too addictive? Ha, rich coming from a "you have to play every day to stay up to date due to daily limits and weekly caps!" Game that extorts subs out of you because if you quit for more than a month to let content build up they take away your house and free company!
Normally I don't like these kinds of posts because they come across as overly sarcastic and passive-agressive, but I couldn't help but feel it was appropriate here.Sometimes I wish the director would just stop talking about the game and just make it. He reminds me of Peter Molyneux at times.

That's literally what your post sounds like to me, so forgive me if I have a hard time sympathising with your perspective.Sometimes I wish the director would just stop trying to be open and communicative with us and just spend that "down time" from Liveletters working even harder on the actual game.
Whenever he speaks, he:
1. Makes promises that his team tackles regardless of the difficulty involved; such as Egi glamours and housing. But he never seems to predict unforeseen problems and delays!
2. Says something that certain types of players disagree with - it's like it's the hardest thing in the world to appease everyone ever.
3. <repeats same point as above, but phrased differently>
At this point, whenever he takes the time out of his schedule to let us know what is coming, what isn't, and what problems/uncertainties they encountered, it's just putting me off the game more and more. This game clearly isn't for me but all of the other MMOs and non-communicative game directors out there are too good to go relish in just yet, I feel, so I haven't left as of this moment.
With that said, I think it's better I make a point of the following:
I am not suggesting that everyone be 100% satisfied with everything in the game.
I am not suggesting that people should hold their tongue and not question certain elements being introduced to the game nor it's direction.
I am not suggesting that people not air their discontent with any aspect of the game.
I am not even suggesting that people not mention their pet peeves..... so long as they admit that they are just that, pet peeves and irrational feelings of irritation.
What I AM suggesting is that people stop adopting this ridiculously obtuse perspective and behaving as though every single player in the game thought exactly as they did while inferring that their opinions were the absolute truth just because they decided on their own that they represented the overwhelming majority. Everyone has the right to feel frustrated, slighted and even impatient and I wouldn't dare suggest that it was wrong of anyone to feel that way. What gets to me is when people treat every situation as though Yoshi and his team deliberately set out to disappoint or take some lazy approach when it is in their every interest to do exactly the opposite. Things may sound wonderfully easy and straightforward in theory, but the reality is that no-one here truly has any idea whatsoever about what difficulties they face - even with what may seem to the simplest of tasks. Whether that is related to 1.0 or not I do not know, but the problems are obviously there. I honestly imagine that even were the Dev team as lazy and incompetent as people want to believe they are, they'd still have sorted out these issues a long, long time ago if they were half as easy to remedy as people seem to imply - all just to stop hearing the requests and complaints about it's absence.

You'd have a fair point if it was just encountering problems and unforeseen circumstances, but it's not. They're doing it to themselves because their priorities are ass backwards.
"I know you all want a good glamour system but that's not going to happen so please just throw all your glamours away... that said, our team is working tirelessly to put all our resources into ADDING MORE GLAMOURS!!".
They need to fix their core systems before adding more fluff to go into that core system.

Wait, so we will not know where the story goes even after the fan fest? What the hell? NO Ala Mhigo after all?
nothing to fix they don't want you to be able to hold every item in the game so you have to manage your inventory if you choose to not you can have more space by buying retainers (which isn't needed) or just never have any space and complain they aren't giving you more when they said that isn't the desired use of the system
There's plenty they can do to ease the issue without a glamour log, though a log would be much appreciated seeing as even WoW has it so there's no real "engine limitations" excuses (WoW is running on a heavily, heavily modified Warcraft 3 engine) but instead they fill our inventories with more junk.nothing to fix they don't want you to be able to hold every item in the game so you have to manage your inventory if you choose to not you can have more space by buying retainers (which isn't needed) or just never have any space and complain they aren't giving you more when they said that isn't the desired use of the system
The major one being currencies, why are these not stored in the key items tab or currencies section? I have to hold the anima items, beast tribe items, Alexander items and so on. Housing items! You'd think they'd give us a storage for this, but with a small holding a maximum of 100 items (split between 3 people in my case), my 2nd retainer has the entire page filled with furniture. We can't buy back event furniture (correct me if I'm wrong), if I throw it away I'd have to fork over $$ when they eventually add it to the Mogstation. Another suggestion would be to do what WoW does and make old raid (Crystal Tower) sets attainable with gil at a low cost (or tradeable?), so we can get it back without grinding hours on end.
I only play one Job so it hasn't been a major issue for me, 2 retainers are full but I've removed sets I can acquire easily. I can't imagine how it is with more than one class. Surely Yoshida has maxed out retainers considering he's the director and all, and he says he struggles with space. Why didn't they increase the inventory or give out a free retainer with Heavensward to begin with?
Enough with the complaints from me, looking forward to what the Alexander mechanic Yoshida is hyping up will be.
Dresses are for ladies. Things like bunny ears should be unisex, but things that distinguish men from women should be kept bound to the gender.Woah woah woah Edda glamour won't be Unisex but will be a reward for PotD and no male equivalent?
