I have all my class to 60, but the only class I am very confidence for Savage is Smn. If only I get more practice with other class for savage.

I started the game as an archer (even though I wanted to heal so bad), because my boyfriend said that learning the game was easiest on a DPS. Well, and because our FC was full of people we know IRL, and there were already too many healer mains. I started leveling, and after realizing I was not gonna get the help I was promised, I said screw it and started healing as a WHM. Down the line I also leveled SCH, because I wanted to be a healer main. It's my absolute favorite role in any game <3
HW classes started getting exposed, and the moment I laid eyes on Astro... I just KNEW it was the class for me. The first thing I did when the expansion released was grab Astro to level it, and I was right. It was the class for me (even though I still play the other healers, but ast will always be my love).

Honestly, i didn't find my favorite class.
Then why am i writting here you ask, well...
The thing is, i am a jack of all trades, and to me, i have fun with every class. if you would ask me my main, i would actualy tell you my main of each role.
Tank: Dark Knight
Melee: Monk
Ranged: Machinist
Caster: Black Mage
Healer: Astrologian
And again, they are my mains but not my absolute favorite, they are the ones i have more hang on, because as i said, i love every class^^

i discovered mine was miner...I have no idea why and I simply cannot explain it but I had a lot of fun doing it. Making all that gil was just a bonus. Always loved mining. I cant wait for the expansion because I love discovering new ore and leveling up versus the whole unspoiled scripts
But yeah, it was fun as hell for me leveling up miner.

I bought this game because conceptually the Astrologian and Summoner looked really fun. I took Summoner to 60, got to Ishgard and picked up Astro. Along the way, I really fell in love with Summoner. I've hear a lot of people say it's clunky and button bloated, but honestly I love every bit of it. Astro, on the otherhand ended up being dissapointing to an extend. The card buffs are still very cool, and the starglobes are awesome, but it didn't seem all that different from White Mage.
Recently, my friends asked me to heal the Gubal Library for them. The only healer I have at 60 was Scholar, since I did all the job quests alongside SMN because why not? So I did it, and I accidentally discovered that I love Scholar just as much as I love Summoner! Sacred Soil is love, Sacred Soil is life.
"Hello, I'm auditioning for the role of Ser Aymeric de Borel, and I'll be singing Electric Chapel by Lady Gaga"

I decided to level CNJ instead of PGL back in 1.0 since I wanted an easy time getting parties. Never looked back.

I tried all the classes out and while I didn't currently maxed out all of them, I found NIN's to be the most enjoyable. Maybe because I always like playing the archetypal stealthy-rogue type? But I really like how FFXIV designed the NIN's playstyle and for me, it fits like a glove. The fast-paced gameplay, the supporting-abilities you can have, a magical bunny to call on a whim.
SMN came to a really close second because I also immensely enjoy playing jack-of-all-trade classes, Red Mage here I come! (fingers-crossed.)
I haven't really delve into healing all that much, so that may change but I will say I'm surprised how much I enjoy tanking. How does the saying go? "If you want to do something right, do it yourself."

I started in 1.0 as a Black Mage purely because it seemed like the best fit for me. I generally always play mage classes, and while blowing stuff up was fun, I don't think it was ever going to be for me. When I finally got it to level 50 I wanted to go straight into another class and chose Bard because I liked the AF. It felt amazing being able to keep songs up on party members (including two songs at the same time if they were spread enough), and being able to support the party with Cure, Protect, Stoneskin and Raise really made me fall in love with the job. It was all the fun of a mage job, with lots of support abilities, and being able to add physical dps whilst looking cool as hell with the bow and arrow (nothing is more satisfying than the old Rain of Death animation, I really miss my laser beams)
Then 2.0 happened and they reduced the job to a generic Archer; magic was no longer available, songs became generic 'auras' reduced to a single 'press for MP' button requiring little thought or positioning, the player is actively encouraged to use songs as little as possible due to damage penalties (Foe Requiem aside), and despite songs constantly guzzling MP there was no form of innate MP regeneration. Since then I don't think I've ever found a job that really 'fits'. The Wanderer's Minuet was a pretty great edition as I enjoy being a 'caster' (even though it's not nearly the same lol), but not enough to sway me. The Warden's Paean seemed like a great step in the right direction, but then they made it another 'press for support' button that requires little but a pair of eyes to use effectively and knowledge of what can/can't be Esuna'd, but since it's normally relegated to being a glorified Warrior dps cooldown I doubt anyone would notice if you didn't use it.
I really enjoyed healing, but the game's design towards healers focusing on maximizing dps during healing downtime instead of having access to abilities that aid the party really puts me off from investing in them.
I'm still waiting for that elusive job that just clicks with me the way Bard did before, and I'm holding out hope it'll come soon. Until then, I'll still enjoy playing the many jobs the game has to offer, but I could never invest myself in them enough to call them my favourite / main job.

I joined the game already knowing scholar would be THE class for me. A healer who uses books as their weapon? Usually the book-wielding class in MMOs is the dark sorcerer type who either inflicts massive dots and debuffs, or summons demons/undead, or both. Summoners are sort of in the same vein, but they can branch into a healing class, which I was immediately taken with. This is the job I wanted to main.
I was a little surprised at how healing and dpsing worked in this game though, 'cause I was used to damage constantly going out so you have no choice but to always heal in fights, always refresh your HoTs whenever they fell off the tank, even in dungeons where there's another healer with you. The damage spells you had were purely there to help you through leveling quests. You rarely had time to afford throwing in a damage spell or DoT in party content.
Not so in FFXIV, but I adapted to dpsing as a healer. In a way I enjoy it, and I'm good at it, but I also kinda miss the sort of gameplay where you have to be healing constantly.

I started this game as a Dragoon/Lancer because I loved the description of Gridania in the flavour text at the side when you create your character. My partner wanted to start as a BLM I think, but let me win out since she thought Gridania sounded lovely too! So she started as a Conjurer. I came from SW:TOR, so I wasn't too sure how the classes worked, and I tanked in that game, so I thought maybe DRG had an tank stance feature. I found out very, very quickly that was not the case, but stuck with it for a while longer anyways.
I made it to about Ifrit for the story, and I was waiting in the cave with my partner for about 45 minutes for queue to pop when my impatience took a hold, and I started to level Gladiator, and my partner Archer. Things went really well, and I enjoyed the thought of being a stalwart protector of my allies.Leveled PLD all the way through to the end of story, but when I started to level WAR, as others have said in this forum, something clicked.
I loved the thought of kill or be killed, and the ability to deal more damage to heal myself up. It made me think of being a brutal warrior, and I just found it so much fun. I haven't looked back since, and WAR is definitely my class now. I keep up on PLD so I don't get rusty, but WAR is my love.![]()
