I will play this on ps4 when sony stops making people pay for online games.PS4 will be really cheap now! You can even try to exchange your PS3 to get an even cheaper 2nd hand PS4. Here (in spain) you can get a PS4 for less than 200€, and if you give your PS3 you get it even cheaper (I've seen 150€, with a controller).
I know there's people playing still on PS3, but we really need game improvements or this game will stagnate :/

You don't need PlayStation Plus to play Final Fantasy XIV on PS4.
And I might add playing it on a PS3 is simply missing a lot the game has to offer. I started on PS3 and there is no way I'd go back to that laggy, low quality (resolution) version of the game. As a matter of fact I wasn't happy going back to the PS3 version after playing the PS4 Beta and had to cause the PS4 version wasn't out yet.
Simply put the PS3 had problems playing many of the games in the previous generation let alone what gaming has to offer now. I'm sure SE has firm numbers on how many people are still playing the older version and I suspect when those numbers get low enough they'll push the older version aside.

oh nice, I did not know that, well I suppose I should buy ps4 once good games are made for it.
PS Plus requirements are entirely in the hands of developers/publishers. Basically if a game developer/publisher decides to lean on Sony's servers and infrastructure, then PS Plus is needed, but if the game maker only uses PSN Authentication and license verification, but provides their own servers (as is the case with FFXIV) PS Plus is not required.

Honestly if the reason you aren't upgrading is because the ps4 doesn't have any good games, then that is complete bs. I mean ff15 drops in november and there are plenty of games already out with extremely high ratings.
If your not due to financial reasons, a refurbished ps4 cost 175 at gamestop. It will be even cheaper once the pro is released
A brand new slim model with full warranty is only $299. Holy crap, by the time Gamestop persuades you to pay another $50+ on their 'service' coverae or whatever, you're better off buying new anyway.Honestly if the reason you aren't upgrading is because the ps4 doesn't have any good games, then that is complete bs. I think there will be fewer PS3-only players after Pro comes out, not because of the Pro itself, but because of the effect it will have on the regular PS4's price.
It won't be enough of a drop to lead to SE dropping support for it, of course. As Yoshi pointed out, they won't do that unless keeping it would prevent major features they want to add. I certainly don't see that happening any time soon. (And this is a company that didn't drop PS2 support from their other MMO until just a few months ago. PS3 has a long way to go before it's as outdated as that.)
Besides which, we'd have already been told if they were dropping PS3 support in 4.0. More likely, it will continue through 4.0 and 5.0. Maybe by 6.0 they might consider having the expansion itself limited to newer platforms with the base game and prior expansions still supported on PS3. They're not going to cut off PS3 players entirely, though, until the game is over, just as they did for PS2 and XI.

I've never had GameStop persuade me to pay $50 for their 'service coverage'.
Back to the point, I hope they wouldn't support PS3 for 4.0. It's an aged system at this point.
