So questions...thoughts
1. The loss of tiered spells means forced to cast higher effect causing more enmity?
2. How will this affect MP costs?
3. Mages gonna be losing shields then?

-1 for all this.
Traits were really nice being able to cross class them. (Fleet of Foot, Intimidation, Fastcast, Prime Conditioning, Out of Site).
Useing all those sexy +10 and +5 stat traits on any of your 18 classes.
It was rewarding to buy your traits and some abilities with guild marks. Just leveling up to receive them takes the fun out of it.

1. Honestly, since Ifrit I've only been using t3 because of the fact I can wait till tank is 50%ish then cure III and auto-regen MP (better then continuously casting cure / cure II) + I don't pull hate. But there are times, when I would much rather use a lower tier. So I am a bit concerned about this ALSO for the fact that cure III is a 5 second recast at the moment...
2. They stated MP cost would be scaled on player level as well as potency (we'll prob see more on this in post #2)
3. I think we'll still be able to equip them. We can only use 10 abilities now (if your 50) from another job so I assume it would still be possible to use shield abilities

1.2. ^Upper tiers of an action (such as Fire II and Fire III) will be abolished in favor of a system wherein potency and MP cost are scaled based on the player’s level.
3. You'll probably just have to level up GLA if you want to be able to use shield skills on your mage classes.
* The inner workings of actions will be prioritized in 1.20, and graphical resources will be reused where possible. Cosmetic changes are expected to commence from patch 1.21 and continue in stages ahead of Version 2.0.![]()
15 actions, 5 of being the elemental nukes, will be quite a few possible actions lost for such a meaningless benefit. Not to mention DoT's like rasp and drown.
I hope they will be condensed into one or removed altogether.
Awwww /comfort @Arkine
What disturbs me even more is that this applies to DoH/DoL. Say goodbye to using Sweat of Brow on all your gathering classes, or Maker's Muse on all your Crafting classes. That's right. Preserve will only be on Alchemists from now on… Boooooo….
Oh well, it cant be that bad.

Overall, I like it. I also like the direction this type of system is going. I have only 2 things (which are minor) that I think should change.
- The rate of ability/trait gain is bottom heavy.
- The inability to do just Combo 3 --> 4, if you want.
The fact that it take only about a day to level a class to Level 10, means that you'll have players gaining their first 5 actions relatively quickly, but their next 5 actions will be gained 20 experience levels later. The deceleration may be too jarring, especially with the current XP curve.
Plus, with the implementation of auto-attack there isn't a necessity to give a level one class (i.e. a character that just picked a new weapon) a class ability immediately. I think they'll be able to hold their own against the field mice and through the tutorial battles until they hit level 2. Plus they'll still have one fallback ability from a previous class.
What I'm suggesting is a CNJ1 with no other classes, can only auto-attack and use a cross-class ability (which he doesn't have yet). At CNJ2, that character can now Cure. If that character wants, it can change class to GLA1 and equip Cure as a cross-class ability, even though he hasn't learned any abilities from Gladiator yet. There really isn't a need for a character in the Armory System to learn an ability immediately from touching a weapon without having used it at least a little bit. Otherwise what you'll have is players buying one of each weapon at Level 1, just to gain every possible cross-class ability ... all at Level 1!
Again, these are minor issues, and overall I really really like this direction with abilities. It just needs tweaking.
