Why Can't We Upgrade Mount Speed?

Speed upgrade depending on the area.
Small areas will reduce the speed and big areas will increase the speed.

This way ground mounts can be faster were the areas are big enough without running through small areas like North Shroud within 10 seconds.

OP, if you really want to travel fast, use teleport.

That is the one Mount I'd be ok with. The speed is just fine otherwise.

If you want to go faster, you could always teleport. Using a mount to go anywhere else takes only seconds.

Increased flying speed is a cute idea, but it creates more problems than it's worth.

The same could be said for implementing flying in the first place >_>

You guys should probably never play FF XI... I don't know what it's like these days as I haven't played it in a good few years, but it used to be only White Mages who could teleport people and even then it was usually a lengthy run to wherever you wanted to be. Using a Chocobo all the way (i.e. without using any teleports) could take you a good 15+ minutes as well depending on where you wanted to go.

Personally I'm happy with the combination of XIV's teleporting/mount speed though. Depending on where you go, sometimes it's faster to go to another zone and walk across the border and it never seems to take that long to get anywhere really.

They can fight with us. HW introduced flight ? They learned to fly. Speed upgrades? Only for them. Hell, 4.0 introduce swimming or boats? They should learn to swim, etc...

They are the basic mounts for everyone, it makes sense that they should be the most practical ones. Others should just be vanity at the expense of speed.

I think the big selling point for mounts isn't so much use for transportation, but vanity. You don't have a slepnir because it's the fastest mount in the game. You have it because you like how it looks, or the music that it plays when mounted. Technically, racing chocobos have sprint in the form of choco dash. It would be nice if our companion birds could get something like that too. You can only use it in short bursts like sprint, but it's still faster than your average mount.
