    Ideas for (hopefully) upcoming fights

In each expansion you'll probably do another set of specialty throwback fights/raids/dungeons as part of the sidequests. We had ff5 in gilgamesh, ff3 in CT, and now ff6 in Azys Lla; I've thought of ways to implement other FF classics as well.

    FF7:
    Target: Jenova and Sephiroth.
Story Basis: A member of a cult of nald thal, a BLM, has been desperately trying to resurrect his mother using forbidden magicks. As he taps further into the void, he corrupts both himself and his mother's remains. In a quest to stop him you follow him to multiple regions where, at each failed resurrection site you find pieces of his mother so corrupted they have taken on a life of their own as powerful voidsent. When you finally catch up to him, he is so corrupted that he becomes a voidsent himself. Only his mother's head or heart remain. Final fight is a battle against both his corrupted form, a voidsent aether swordsman, and the final tortured embodiment of his mother's final remains.

    FF4:
    Target: The 4 elemental fiends
Story Basis: (works well with invasion into garlemald or recapture of garlean held lands, such as Ala Mhigo) 4 high ranking imperial aetheric researchers have been tasked with harnessing the power of the primals, only to be corrupted by their aether and turned into elemental abominations.
The earth corrupted researcher would be first followed by water wind and fire, Earth would be the ultimate introduction to elemental corruption, as the early fight starts off against a magic oriented fighter largely shrouded by her garments. Second phase of fight would remove most of the garments as you see she is so thoroughly corrupted that her bones have begun to turn to earth aspected crystal while her skin has turned to brittle stone, breaking away in places to reveal said bones(since milon Z was undead, this works to cover it while sticking with an earth theme.)

Fight would include positioning based earthquake damage (raised regions cause more damage) as well as falling rock and earth spike aoes which create raised or lowered regions.
Water would stay fairly true to original, transforming into a turtle like corrupted form that summons floods which can be hidden from behind objects or on raised platforms (debris from sea floor? possible coral attacks?)
Wind type would create tornadoes that suck in allies and cause more damage at their centers, and raging winds that can be avoided by hiding behind various obstacles (Part of basic terrain similar to garuda fight, or debris blown into the area that simply remains behind until destroyed after whirlwinds).

Fire type would be the most corrupted and made of living flames, creating vortices of flame where the damage is largely centered around their outer edges, with a stable safe eye in the center that travel around the map. Damage can be avoided by traveling along with the vortex from within, while it is centered around a player at the start, or by avoiding them entirely. Also large scale fire gouts throughout fight.

The final fight would include all 4 fiends, and during the later phase, any two fiends might leave the battle to cast their ultimate attacks. Water would be a flood, avoided by climbing onto or behind obstacles. Earth would be an earthquake that deals less damage on lower ground, more on higher ground and when near obstacles, which are bioth destroyed by the quake. Wind would be a massive tornado that pulls everyone into center, which you can hide behind obstacles to avoid, dealing greater damage at the center. Fire would be a flaming vortex that scorches the outer ring as well as 2 traveling columns of fire that deal damage to anything in their path but bounce off of obstacles. Obstacles would largely be created by earth attacks that create stalagmites/boulders or raised/lowered ground. The could also be drawn in by whirlwinds from outside the arena.

Each boss would possess their own unique fight music starting with the theme of the four fiends and evolving into their own unique theme after a certain stage. Final fight would begin with the 4 fiends theme against all 4 enemies, then evolve into a new, updated version of the same theme created specifically for xiv.

Final note: post length limits are stupid, and I dunno how to bypass them. Sorry for the post splitting.

Yoshi already stated years ago he will not be featuring characters appearing as crossovers in FFXIV whose 'stories are already complete' or 'who are dead by the end of their respective games':

    · We will not use characters that are already dead or whose role has ended in their title

For example, “Red XIII” who appeared in FFVII.

I believe we mentioned “Red XIV” as a joke before, but Red XIII has a very rare and specific role in the world of FFVII. If he was wandering around the world of Eorzea it would destroy the image of the world of FFVII, so this can’t happen.

This is just a simple example of what we mean.
So that kind of rules Sephiroth out (1.0's final boss Nael van Darnus was technically a loose expy of Sephiroth anyway so that's another nail in the coffin for a Sephiroth battle in FFXIV).

As for the elemental fiends, which FF game are we talking about here? FFI's fiends are out of the question as two are already in the game,
Tiamat is a npc in the Heavensward storyline and who most definitely will never become an enemy - she's stated as remaining bound in Azys Lla in penance for summoning her deceased brother Bahamut as a Primal and is a benign, sympathetic character. And the Kraken is just a sea monster that is the final boss of both Hullbreaker Isle NM and Sastasha Seagrot HM dungeons.
I'm not sure about where Marlirith and Lich could be though, although the Palace of the Dead sounds likely for the later. FFIV's fiends though are possible. But we'll see in the future as the game develops anyway.

And finally you can get around the post limit by simply posting a few sentences, and then going back and editing the post afterwards with the rest of what you wanted to post (like I just did).
