    Level 50 questions

Hi, so I've just got my first lvl 50 class, and I have a couple of questions
    1) I notice I no longer get any xp for killing stuff, is that it, can I go no higher?
    2) when I hit lvl 50 the game told me I could now accept the next class/job quest, cool but if I do them can I go up a class or not.
    3) Now I am at lvl 50 with my dragoon should I push on and finish the story missions or level up another class? Bit of a daft question I know, but I am really enjoying the story and since this has been my focus since a came back to the game I am a little apprehensive to finish it now, as then what will I do?

As always thanks in advance for any help or tips, this forum is so helpful, it humbling.

    1) Level 50 is the cap unless you buy the Expansion Pack, Heavensward, which boosts it up to 60
    2) There are no restrictions on multi-classing in FFXIV, you can be leveling up as many as you want at a time, and can max them all out no issue
    3) There are 5 patches worth of story content after hitting level 50, along with raids and extra dungeons. You're pretty much free to do whatever you want. Finish up the content through 2.55, level other classes and jobs, whatever. And if you reach the end and want more, Heavensward's right there for the purchase.

I would register Heavensward so you get awarded XP for the level 50 main scenario quests.

As for "going up a class," I see on Lodestone that you're already a dragoon (you may wish to update your forum display preferences to show that rather than lancer). Dragoon is as close to "going up a class" as a lancer gets. You do, however, unlock the three "extra jobs" of astrologian, dark knight, and machinist once you get far enough through the level 50 main scenario quests.

Sorry, on number 2 I mistyped, I meant to say level, not class, I know I can level up other classes, but if I do these job/class quests, what will I gain if I can no longer gain xp?
    Sorry for any confusion

As mentioned, to raise the level cap from 50 to 60 requires the Heavensward expansion. (But there's a ton of content at level 50, so it's up to you if you want to do that right away, or finish more of the 50 content first.)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "going up a class". There is another job quest at 50, just as there's been each five levels on the way up. From the level 50 one you gain the final piece of your artifact armour and a new skill.

I'd recommend continuing with your MSQ at least through "The Ultimate Weapon" quest (the one that includes the Praetorium dungeon) which completes the original 2.0 portion of the main scenario, because doing so unlocks all the rest of the level 50 content. Whether you then want to branch out at that point either to leveling other classes or doing some of the optional level 50 content, or continue further in the MSQ is up to you (since you'll likely want to do each at some point). The main scenario itself continues on through more level 50 quests that were added in the 2.1 through 2.55 patches, (and then beyond that it continues with the Heavensward expansion).

You need to do the level 50 job quest. They give you skills not levels/XP and even if you don't buy the expansion right away you still want your level 50 skills.

I just want to be clear about a few things to try and avoid any confusion.

    1) Even though this may sound daunting, you have only just scratched the surface of content by just hitting 50. Completely ignoring the option to level other classes, you still have probably 40+ hours of story content and probably twice as much in side quests and dungeons.

    2) Once you hit 50, that means nothing. You first goal should be to complete you level 50 Job quest to get your final ability, which in the case of Dragoon, is Dragonfire Dive; which is a nice AoE cooldown. Once you've completed that, I would finish the end of 2.0 story. You'll know when its over, but just in case its not obvious, it will be after you complete Praetorium and defeat Ultima Weapon.

    3) After this is completed, there are probably around 2 dozen side quests that will open up optional dungeons, relic weapon, Primals (Hard Mode), raids, etc. These are optional. You also then have 5 patches of story content to go through until you finally complete the main story of A Realm Reborn. It will also be obvious when this ends.

    4) Once you've completed the main story up to that point, you will then be gated to continue until you buy the expansion. But this doesn't mean you can't play. At this point, you can level other classes, do any sidequests and dungeons you've come across, complete your relic weapon, sight seeing logs, etc.

    5) The final thing to note which others have said is, you will not gain any experience, level your class, gain new abilities, or anything of that nature unless you have purchased the expansion. It is my recommendation that if you plan on playing into Heavensward, to purchase it immediately. This way, as you're doing all those things I've previous listed after you've completed the 2.0 story, you will continue to gain experience points and level your class. This is an advantage to you. When those of us who completed ARR before the expansion released, we all went into Heavensward at level 50. If you get the xpac now, by the time you get to Heavensward, you'll already be 52 or so (Maybe higher?) and have a slight head start in that content.

Sorry, I know I am asking a lot of questions but just 1 follow up. I changed to a dragoon in 2014. Then stopped play for almost 2 years, and now I cannot fine this job quest. It's not at the lancer guild in Gridania, anyone know where I need to go please?

The quest giver's name is Alberic, and he's in Coerthas Central Highlands, near the observatory.
