ADDITIONAL SERVICE ACCOUNT QUESTION

I believe the intended purpose is for one single player to have multiple platforms registered. I just play on Windows. But if I wanted to also play on PlayStation, I would need to use this additional service account option in order to play my same character via PlayStation as well.

You wouldn't need a separate service account for that. You'd just need to purchase another copy of the game and register it under your existing service account.

Another service account is essentially no different than another SE account, with it's own purchases and subscription fees, and its own characters. The only real difference is that by putting the two service accounts under the same SE account, you can login to the MogStation once and configure both of them. (I guess some people who have multiple accounts just for themselves prefer it that way so they don't have to keep track of separate login info for each, though that seems to me like a rather minor benefit.)
