Again, it's not a money issue. The indications given point towards it being a personnel issue - finding two developers with the requisite skills, rendering this whole thread moot.

For those who don't work in software development, there's a famous axim called Brooke's Law: "The more manpower you add to a late software project, the later it becomes."From what I remember from a Interview Yoshi-p didn't say they don't have the funds to hire someone. The problem was that they need 2 skilled developers who can speak japanese to do battle content and it seems finding 2 skilled developers have proven difficult. They don't want to train someone from the ground up because that could impact the schedule for releasing content..
When you add new developers to a software team, you're not going to get anything near the high output out of them that you would from your other devs. My office recently added new folks - it takes about six months for them to be allowed to tackle tough projects without supervision. (As an analyst and designer, I was able to hit the ground running and start cranking out software specifications within a month.)
Sounds like 1.0 just wearing a mask called 2.0/HW
For me personally, FFXIV is certainly not the only mmo out there to enjoy, ffxiv lacks to the point of poverty in some areas compared to other mmos. BUT its still an OK game, I cant and will not deny that! Wow is OK, Rift is OK (their housing is perfection however), Tera is OK, FFXI is OK. To me they are all just OK, but certain unique aspects in each game, keeps me subbed/playing them all.
Don't know if more developers would help or not tbh.
Would an extra developer actually of had the housing item limit increased by now? would we have enough housing by now (not baby apartments, actual homes?....would an extra developer ensure that the lighting in houses would have been separate to each floor instead of house wide?....or allowed somehow to own more then one aquarium O.o?....could I dye all my gear by now with an extra developer?
Was that lack of developers or just poor choices/design?
Now more open world content?, maybe that would increase... but then again they have the ideas we gave them plenty. They too are very talented!!..they can handle it but the game itself imo...cant.
I think its more an outdated / severely limited hardware issue/ server limitation holding a huge amount of game options and alternate content behind more then lack of talented developers to think of new content.
Their player base alone, has been talent wasted as well.
I'm not certain if anything would change, I was hoping their pride alone would have ensured the core features improvements by now and increased variety but nothing has changed enough imo. Mind you it is an OK game as I said!!!!
I always ask and suggest for the best but never expect it anymore, that's pretty much the way in all mmos nowadays.
Would I pay extra?, I would have to say no because I don't trust that things would change...I just don't.![]()

♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
I'm happy enough with the content to call FF XIV my favorite game ever.
If more money/staff were added, I would like that to be directed into developing advanced detection software for suspicious activity and appropriately banning cheaters and bots/RMT in order to keep integrity for players who wish to play the game the way it was designed to be played and not receive spam messages.
Oh god what if they got "that guy!" D= will all our future heroes be green roes? From what I remember from a Interview Yoshi-p didn't say they don't have the funds to hire someone. I mean with subs down so low I would be really surprised if a lack of money had nothing to do with it.
I don't think it's just the skill of the candidates that's the problem.
I believe it was mentioned at one point that they also need to speak fluent Japanese, which narrows the field down considerably...
