The new update looks amazing. Can't wait for it. Sorry it's underwhelming for some but certainly not for me. I play this game more than I should and I always have something to do.

Can't wait to finish most of this content in few hours lol. Only thing that will last a bit is Alex Savage.
I am going to reserve any opinion until I have experienced the content a bit. While I am worried about how hard the raid content will be, I am hopeful that they are going to open it back up to more of the population. Any content that has a 0.5% clear raid is just... the previous raids were so hard that they scared away people, fingers crossed that they will be more inviting this time.
This patch is probably my least favourite since i started playing in 3.0. Its not that the content itself is bad its that it wont last me 3 months.
I'm curious why people find this patch disappointing when it actually seems to have more content in it than any other patch so far in the 3.X series. I for one am very excited about it. But then it seems to cater well to my interests. Maybe that's the problem for the people that are unhappy?
That's not true. Games of this scale usually have 300-400 people working on it (excluding server maintance people, support and others, with them number should be around 700-800). And I don't understand how it takes 3 months for, let's say, 100-150 people to develop 2 dungeons, 1 trial and 4 raid bosses and another 100 people and 3 months to develop same-old mechanics with new colors.
That is the reason why people complain and aren't satisfied.
I assumed "The Rising" 2015 was his whole dev team. And he constantly says his team is small...bc apparently no one will believe him. At Fanfest 2014, Yoshi said one man coded EVERY SINGLE MONSTER in the overworld. Stop being cynical, they're giving us everything they can.

We already lost 1 dungeon per patch so SE could work on new stuff like Diadem and Palace of the Dead. The thing about FFXIV is that we are offered patch updates with all too predictable content. We know that we are getting A B and C every even or odd patch. Is that bad? Not necessarily. This current method of how they release patches assures their playerbase on what to expect in the forthcoming months. However, this starts to become very monotonous and well, too predictable. If I take a break in 3.4 and return for 3.5, more likely then not, I wouldn't be asking myself: "Hmm what's new in FFXIV." It would be more along the lines of: "How does the final Shadows of Mhach raid look?" Because, you know, we already know purposes of the 3.1, 3.3, and 3.5.
The purpose of my post is not to display disappointment towards the content I have yet to play. I've no doubt Alexander will be fun, the story will be amazing, and the Primal will be awesome for a month or so. Rather, I am underwhelmed because of the same old song and dance of "new features" being added that are actually becoming passed off or masked as new content. In other words, ask yourself this: Is a relic weapon actually new content if you have to constantly grind previous patched dungeons and raids? Is a new pop-up-book-UI-thingy actually new content if said NPC sends you to clear old Coil and (more) dungeons for rewards?
If we want more different content it'll mean more sacrifices of the content we're used to.
Would that be worth it? Depends on the person I guess. I'd rather that SE kept producing the "pattern"-I love getting regular new story quests, sidestory quests, dungeons, trials, ect. every patch. I would be disappointed if say, SE didn't add a new trial one patch to gamble on a new feature that didn't work out.
Ideally SE would be able to produce all the old favourites alongside a whole new feature each patch. Sadly it doesn't seem like the development team is large enough to pull it off.
It is possible we could get more then 1 trial this patch, we could get a trial with the warriors of darkness and who knows what Hildebrand side quest could bring, possibly another trial too?
I don't want to create a new thread because of this question, so I hope someone here will be able to answer me the following:
Do I only need to complete T13 and the follow up quest "Alisae's Path "to trigger the dialogue change in 3.4's MSQ or do I need to complete all Coils?
So far I've completed T1-10 and T13 in preparation for 3.4 and while the first option seems more reasonable to me, I want to make sure that it's the case.
Overwhelmed, underwhelmed....why isn't anyone ever just whelmed?
