    Feeling Underwhelmed with 3.4

    Hey fellow Warriors of Light,

So patch 3.4 is just over a week away and I should be excited right? Well, not exactly. While I am excited to stop time in Alexander: The Creator, as well as trying to prove myself to the Goddess Sophia, I can't help but to feel underwhelmed by lack of new content presented to us in patch 3.4 Soul Surrender. Before you assume this is a "doomsday" or an "I quit" thread, hear me out because I would love to hear your opinions on patch 3.4 as well.

Nevertheless, here we have the main course of patch 3.4:
    - Alexander raid
    - Extreme Primal
    - Additional dungeons (Expert roulette update)
    - Main scenario
    - Side quests: Hildibrand, Scholastic
    - Deep Dungeon expanded

These are essentially the core pieces of content being added. Although, I am quite worried that the side quests are going to be extremely short like they have been in previous patches. As with Deep Dungeon, I am desperately hoping there is a change in how we go about advancing floors above 50. Because I really don't want to do the same exact method of killing (X) number of monsters for 50 more floors. Everything else? Well, everything is else either an addition to already implemented content and items, or a small taste of something that will be implemented in a later patch:

    - Wondrous Tails: Khloe is a Mi'Qote girl who has a list of objectives for you to do. On completion of these objectives you will gain certain rewards. However, these objectives are going to require you to complete older content and roulettes.

    - Adventure Squadrons: Recruits will join you by completing various objectives in your challenge log. Once you have recruited 4 NPCs, you will have your Squadron. However, you won't be able to use these in any duties until an update in the future.

    - Gold Saucer updates: These are quality of life changes to already existing content.

    - Diadem changes: Again, already existing content that is seeing changes with the hope of reviving dead space. However, the gear drops are item level 235, which will be nearly useless on arrival of patch 3.4. How will that help towards the end of the 3 months when everyone has Tomes of Scripture gear? I'm still scratching my head on the direction of (or lack of) Diadem. At least use Diadem for something current like relics, instead of the same old previous content grind?

So what do you think about patch 3.4? Do you think this amount of content is sufficient enough to last 3 or so months? Are you satisfied with the type of content that we are getting? Do you feel like something was left out of Soul Surrender?

Absolutely. There's this growing mass off "no matter what you do, I'm going to be disappointed" people.
Only looking at something to complain or be 'offended' about, and in this case not even waiting to experience the content before once again starting up the negative bandwagon.

Not really that, just an expression of basically "we've been waiting this long, and this is it?"

I've let my sub lapse, currently playing ESO, and guess what... between 3.35 and 3.4 of FFXIV, i have completely leveled 1 character, still have yet to complete a lot of the content, and when i read about the 3.4 content coming my thought was...guess i'll just wait until 4.0 before even trying coming back. Seriously, it is an incredibly long time between content patches and there is little to show for it. The MSQ is really the best thing to look forward to, but i doubt that will even be that "full" of content. Will most likely be 4-5 quests and that will be that. I'm not entirely sure how you can go months upon months designing interm content and it comes out to just a couple quests.

If they are structured correctly, there should be a design team for MSQ, design team for side quests, team for dungeons and possibly raids lumped together. If they have multiple design teams, there is no reason there should not be more content than what is being delivered. Maybe they put like 80% of their resources into creating the next full expansion, but then it should be so huge that when chopped up into the 4.X patches there is enough content to last a couple months before being worn out. With the way it is now, unless you are raiding savage, you simply outgrow the content in just a few weeks. Playing just for reset to roll around so that you can get a new piece of gear even though you have cleared all the content is not a grind that will keep players coming back. Having such a large amount of content, and a progressively increasing in difficulty so that you HAVE to get that extra piece to down it would be a better way.

And when you get to the end game in that game you'll be waiting around disappointing for content because it will last you a matter of weeks and not months. This happens to every single mmo in existence

Don't let that fool you. I joined FFXIV between 2.3 and 2.4
Naturally I still had a lot of content to clear between 2.55 and 3.0
Content update in ESO usually comes with DLC being put into the cash shop.

More like they have been burned several times already with with what to expect or hope for from the devs. aiming low gets contagious.
