People complain because people don't make games.

It's easy enough to say "Just took the same mechanics and slapped a fresh coat of paint on it", but how many people who talk so dismissively about the development have actually done such a thing for themselves?

I highly doubt that FFXIV has a team comprising of 20% of the total employee count of Square Enix.

I'm pretty excited about this stuff. I'm coming back on Friday, took a 3 week break so I'm pumped for new content.

Diadem could be interesting, or it could be a massive failure. 235 gear doesn't sound promising, lol.

The biggest things aside from the actual content, imo, are the Nocturnal Astrologian+Card changes and the Egi Glamours. If the Egi Glamours aren't in the patch, well, that's one less thing I have to look forward to. =|
I hope to be pleasantly surprised by the Egi Glamours, but nothing has been even hinted about them.

People always complain about lack of content. There's so much content in this game I haven't even touched some things since I came back 6 months ago. If you think this game has no content maybe you should go play WildStar, or some other mmo that actually doesn't have much content. You may come back with a different impression of what this dev team really does for this game and its players. I have nothing but good things to say about this game and its devs.

SE is great at pumping out content IMO. Really great at adding more tiered content for raiders and better than most games at introducing alternate content. Housing, Gold Saucer, Chocobo Racing, Triple Triad, Lord Of Verminion, etc.

Sure some of it's borked on launch and has needless limitations/unintuitive but it's SE. FFXI has me used to that.

Putting together content is harder and takes a lot of consideration we everyday causal gamer probably are unaware of. Thoughts behind story and future story takes a lot of time. Gear balance, raid boss balance and mechanics test. Im pretty sure its not all lets slap this all together in a month then take a vacation after we slap it all together.

I make my own goals with the content I have and try not to let SE move me by updates. I don't get terribly hyped unless its something I've wanted for a long time (such as the new GC rank) or if it involves something I focus on (such as new minions for my collection).

Do I love new things and updates? Sure I do, but keeping your expectations low and keeping in mind the devs are only human keeps this all grounded.

And I don't understand how it takes 3 months for, let's say, 100-150 people to develop 2 dungeons, 1 trial and 4 raid bosses and another 100 people and 3 months to develop same-old mechanics with new colors.

That is the reason why people complain and aren't satisfied.
Because designing dungeons and raids (the environments, not just the bosses) isn't as simple as slapping assets together and calling it a day as you seem to think it does. Balancing fights and mechanics also takes multiple passes. There's a reason why new dungeons and raids arrive fairly well balanced with few issues. Meticulous testing and balancing.
