Does Square Show too much in their patch trailers?

I mean this is a small thing to a lot of people but i hate seeing absolutely everything a game has to offer in a trailer. Experiencing things blind for the first time is where the best experience lies IMO. But that's not to say the experience isn't good if you know what you're going into, but knowing everything kinda makes things feel bland.

What i'm getting at is. Do you guys think they show too much in the trailers they release for their patches? 8 minutes for something not an expansion is way too much i mean yeah sneak peaks at things like apartments and dueling is cool but end dungeon bosses and end raid bosses? Bit too much. Concept art is cool because you can visualize and perceive yourself. Maybe show one big boss or a snippet of two cool visuals or bosses? I think that'd be neat because it still leaves much to the imagination.

I think its fine as it is, but I do wonder what happend to the EGI-glamour feature? Last time I checked official FFXIV news, they were planning on adding it in 3.4. Yet I did not see it in the trailer, is it still comming?

They show so much because they have to try and get people who left to resub.

I don't think the trailer showed too much necessarily, maybe on the Alexander stuff a little but overall not really... And I do feel it did kinda hype up things a little too much, things shown there probably won't feel quite as epic in-game as they looked on the trailer...

If there was any buildup or weight to these bosses like Pheonix I'd care about them being "spoiled" but with how much of a faceroll dungeons and story mode are there's no reason to care.

I definitely get your sentiment and it's a good point, but i think it's all the more reason to give people more of a surprise. Imagine seeing a behemoth getting summoned randomly out of a book? You'd crap your pants XD But now, we know that's going to happen so... Eh?

Also an excellent point but making it shorter and sweeter with a little more epic feel would go a long way for those unsubbed. Showing maybe 1 or 2 bosses like alexander himself as just quick glimpses would get people very hyped!

Trailers didn't show Wondrous Tails either so don't worry. Not everything goes into the trailer.

I think it's good that FFXIV content updates are substantial enough for an 8-10 minute trailer. Other MMOs I've played in the past would struggle to put togther a trailer half as long.

Think about it, nobody wants to die, there's rules to this game son, I'm justified.

Kinda like the spoiler story to the "story dungeon", my guess looks like it's right, the Ixali look like they didn't perform an actual summoning but potentially doing a Trance like Summoner but with the added ability to also call the primal. I am intrigued where the story will go with the other Primals and why they are being shown again, but in the case of hyping less would be more.

rather than showcasing the bosses that are going to appear in the dungeons it would make more sense to do something like.

-A threat reemerges- Just show snippets of the Primals and then

-The Warrior's of Dark make their move- show the WoD in Ifrit's fire ring

-Alexander Awakened?!- show Alexander's barrier breaking down

-A tasty dessert??- The library (since side stories can be goofy at times it would help balance the seriousness with something lighthearted)

-Hildibrand's ready to fight!- Just show him in armor, which is good, they didn't showcase much with him so the story around him is a mystery

In all honesty, the trailers should limit the amount they show to how much they show off with his quest. The right amount of hype without giving up to much. Cause it is true, you pretty much spoil it once you show off the bosses involved, it's like, ah, cool. But SE should focus more on the story around them rather than the fights within them.
