From my memory it's usually other characters jumping in before we can make our moves.
When we do, it's out of cutscene.
But as a fellow mage, the idea of setting aside my magic enhancing staff/book/globe to sock a dude seems... counter intuitive.
This is just going to go in circles all over again.
Unless the dev team specifically has a scene calling for the player character to do something, such as using the white auracite to trap an Ascian, they are not going to try and animate every possible combination of job and race for one scene.
Which is why SE should make some unwinnable instanced battles, like the battle before Ifrit.
Or skip the middle man and just have you lose in a cutscene instead of wasting time fighting a losing battle.
I want to at least do something to enjoy the story (even if I can't win). While it is 5v2(?), watching my character be a worthless dolt who can't remember how to swing a weapon is frustrating. Especially when we can solo an Imperial Legatus :/
Buuuuut if each individual Warrior of Darkness is on par with ourselves...
Then we'll just 8 man trial it and call it a day.
They've only got one healer though. We can take 'em.
The problem with that is a massive plot thread through 3.0 was that we lacked the crystal's power throughout the great majority of the story. The fact is it didn't deter us at all in our actions, so why would each WoD having a single crystal nerf them when having 0 didn't for us?
Even if we're individually stronger, they are a party of overpowered warriors.
I feel like it's set up in a way that we simply couldn't win a 1v5. So, I'm really interested in seeing how our confrontation with the WoD will be handled.
