Completely forgot about that theme that played at the beginning of the trailer. That used to play before the 3.3 live letter started.

As MomomiMomi said, the entire place is a reference to Tactics Ogre. Also, Edda mentioned a robed figure before she passed on, so she was probably able to see his face. In every other language, Edda says 'wizard.' FFXIV has made a couple of Tactics Ogre references since HW's release. Fractal Continuum and Neverreap dropped Tactics Ogre gear, Palace of the Dead is the name of a place from Tactics Ogre (Nybeth is the Floor 100 boss) and the music Fog of Phantom played in the 3.4 trailer. If SE are going with the Corse model, then Nybeth will most likely be a Lich (which was in Final Fantasy I. So there, obscure Final Fantasy reference).
Scarmiglione would make more sense to either appear in the MSQ or be treated the same way as the Warring Triad (separate story with four potential Trials).

Loved the trailer. 3.4>3.3
Did the White Mage of Darkness cast Enfire?
Not if someone else has noticed but I've noticed that the wall has the same symbols.

Far as I guess, it's a nod toward the original WoL group that were in the 1.x trailers. This was when Jobs didn't exist and everything was the concept of classes mixing abilities. Guessing this might establish the WoD as alternate timeline/universe parallels of our cinematic WoL?
