Had to cancel ceremony of eternal bond... Did I lose $20?

Alright so maybe I should first provide a bit of background first.

It started when my girlfriend (at the time) and I decided to get married. We both went for the Platinum plan because the items were cool.
We've done the "Ties that Bond Us" pilgrimage, which bound the bracelets to us both.
We didn't schedule it because we wanted to attend a friend's ceremony first, and then see when we were free
Drama happened, we broke up. And she deleted her character.

I had to cancel the ceremony because of this. The quest was on the "complete the ceremony" part, which I couldn't do, so I didn't have any choice but to cancel it.
I thought maybe it would reset the bracelet or something, so I could find someone else who'd be willing to spend $20 to get me cool items.
However, the game makes me surrender the bracelet entirely. The one I spent $20 on. I'm poor so this $20 loss really sucks.

Is there ANYTHING I can do or did I just lose $20 and there's nothing I can do about it?

You don't. If the partner leaves for any reason the ceremony plan is done and you will not get a refund for the bracelet. I'm not sure if you paid for her bracelet but you won't get that money back.

You also won't get the money back because you surrendered yours.

It counts as a personal matter with you and your girlfriend and is out of the Dev's power.

Alrighty alrighty. I'll accept the loss since there isn't anything I can do.

But I'm gonna complain about one thing for the sake of venting.
Considering I've gotten nothing out of this, except for the suit, it really feels like Square Enix is telling me "thanks for the money, asshole".
And no, $20 for a virtual suit isn't worth it in the slightest.
