    Most people seem to be against you - but I agree, the first 50 floors of PotD have been extremely boring. It's just a slow trash killing simulator, it's not like any of the mobs have worthwhile mechanics (wow the slimes explode if everyone sits on their thumbs for a minute, really interesting stuff). I have some vague hope that they'll keep true to their word and make the last 100 (or 50 idr) floors engaging and not faceroll but I guess only time will tell.

    They do it for marketing though. Hey look, you can jump right in! At level 60 you'll be doing the same sleepwalk mode content but at least we'll get your box sale!

    Also this is from a while back but 2004 is when World of Warcraft first launched and its dungeon and encounter design back then was way more interesting than Palace of the Dead. Some encounters actually required crowd control and dungeons had stuff like locked doors (that rogues could open), missable/skippable bosses, events, and weird uses like the alchemy lab.

    PoTD might be the worst dungeon crawling I've ever experienced in an MMORPG. It's like EverQuest minus the danger, interesting items, and cool zone layouts.

    Oh 17 I got the quest level wrong. Point still stands why should they only add content that is accessible for level 60 players only? The next 50 floors I think should be level 50 and the last 100 @60.

    At present no group events outside of FATES or DF is available to anyone below 50, even saying 50 is a long stretch as it is nerfed down content like CT and Coil. As for new players having the main story quest to do, they are more often than not if a dps stuck in long queues waiting for people. Also most complaints I here from new players is how they are bored with being stuck with the MSQ and want a break from it.

    Even Aquapolis was a wasted chance to have different level dungeons for lower level maps.

    From the moment they announced it I was expecting Bloodborne Chalice Dungeon levels of meh... so I went in with almost no expectations, and still left disappointed.

    I ain't holding my breath for the next floors, because I already foresee just some "new" traps, higher HP and one or two new random rooms that can be there, with a slight alteration to existing rooms - it's pretty much the philosophy of extending current content (hard mode dungeons, etc) at this point.

    I will likely, and begrudgingly, do it to get Edda's gear and then drop it.

    :edit: Sorry I don't have any ideas to fix it, but that's because I'd rather see the concept of PotD be used elsewhere and not be done like it currently is whatsoever.

    Sure, Palace of the Dead is not perfect. It may be kinda boring or random, but:
    • Its never been easier to get your hands on a ilvl 235 weapon
    • You can try out other classes without leveling them for weeks
    • Its a nice alternative for tomes farming without doing "Expert" dungeons
    • You can join it without any gear
    • You can level your alts very fast
    • You can join it nearly instantly with ANY class
    • You can join with your friends on higher floors
    • Devs will use your feedback for the next Palace of the Dead

    So, what do you want more?

    I know this is a troll thread, but still: PoTD is not completed yet, so you just experienced the first 50 floord from 200, so you can't really know how it will end up being.

    For now, it's a good source for materias V, leveling etc...

    Then I think you may need to get your eyes checked because I have seen plenty of negative threads give their reason and how it could improve alot of the time it's just people shooting down the thread calling it complaining for no reason when sometimes its not even when they give a detailed reason why. A good example was this thread how someone didn't like Deep Dungeon and people shared the same feelings and put in how it could have been a bit better. So before saying things like that actually have a look around.

    For my part, PotD was better than I expected (disappointment with Diadem set the bar really low), but not as good as I'd hoped.

    Pros:
    - It's a chance to test drive new jobs before getting invested. I managed to get a career DPS friend to try tanking, and he seemed to actually enjoy it.
    - Most monsters have new abilities, or abilities previously restricted only to bosses. Figuring them out, and which ones really needed to be paid attention to, was interesting.
    - Simplistic and randomized dungeon design had an old-school sorta charm.
    - It was nice not to have to worry about equipment itemization for a while. Could PotD as easily stark naked as dressed to the nines.
    - Traps added an interesting element of danger.

    Cons:
    - Killing monsters is the only thing to do in PotD. Would be nice to have other goals.
    - PotD can form some very bad habits, particularly for jobs that utilize positionals.
    - Fixed vs Matched is too rigid; players should be able to choose at any time whether to enter with an undersized pre-formed party or choose to get matched.
    - A player that starts out as a class should automatically upgrade to the job at level 30. Not much of a test drive, otherwise.

    Overall, I thing PotD was a good thing, but it has a lot of room for improvement. Hopefully, the devs will DO some of that improving when they release future floors, and not just give us more of the same!

    Imagine if the floors 50+ are semi decent. Given the design you still have to waste HOURs on first 50 floors which are pure trash.
